Hypothetical situation.

You have a slot-4 MVS cab and it's either on a route somewhere or in your gameroom.

What 4 games would you put in it to satisfy the WIDEST possible group of people. Not just hardcore gamers, but casual gamers, girls (not that girls can't be hardcore or casual but they usually aren't), people who don't play video games...the lot.

Here's my setup:

Slot 1: Hailing from Brighton Beach, NY. Weighing in at a slender 227lbs. With a record of 21 wins and 0 losses, 18 by KO.

Garou: Mark of The Wolves

Slot 2: Fighting out of Tempe, Arizona he originates from Jacksonville Florida, weighing in at 115lbs 7oz, with an incredible record of 116 wins and 3 losses, 95 by KO, 10 by TKO, "The Lady Killer"...

Puzzle Bobble

Slot 3: A Senior at Inachu High School with a fighting record of 3 and O Bad Bad Leroy...

Neo Turf Masters

Slot 4: Hailing from the great fighting city of Pittsburgh with a professional record of 12 and 1 and an amature record of 39 and 0...

Nightmare In The Dark

blah blah letsgetreadytorumbleblahblahblah.

Garou because it's pretty and a lot of people are graphic driven, also a lot of people enjoy fighting games even casually.

Puzzle Bobble because it's a MAD chick magnet and it's a cool game.

Neo Turf Masters because...well...I play a lot of Golden Tee so I figure this would be a good drinking game and a little 'sports' goes a long way.

Nightmare in The Dark because I think the platformers have a lot of appeal and NitD has a great look to it...it just FEELS like an arcade game, you know?

Alright..what do you clowns got?

There's some arcades in Australia that do this:

6-slot kof 94-2k
4-slot ms 1,2,3,X

I like that better, however if I had to make a mvs setup for the masses I would select:

1. Garou/kof2001 - C'mon get serious.
2. Puzzle Bobble - Blaine said it best.
3. Metal Slug 3 - Good wholesum shooting action.
4. Dance Dance Karnov
5. League Bowling - too many golden tees out there. This would balance it out.

OK, I'll have a bash!
In reality, cos I have to please myself, the mrs and my friends, and I dont like constantly swapping out carts in my 4-slot!
So, I have this weird system:

Slot 1.
Action slot, Normally occupied by Metal Slug 2. But Sometimes Sengoku, or Crossed Swords.
Slot 2.
Beat em up slot.
Fatal Fury Special, Samurai Shodown, World Heroes 2, or if I'm feeling really retro Fatal Fury.
Slot 3.
Puzzle Slot.
Puzzle Bobble, Pop n Bounce, or Bomberman.
Slot 4.
Sports Slot.
Windjammers, Soccer Brawl, or Top Players Golf.

Hmmm, Thats not really what you asked is it?
My dream pleaser, would be....
1/ Garou
2/ MS 3
3/ KOF 2000
4/ Viewpoint

Hmmm, I should buy Viewpoint, seeing as its as cheap as chips!

My four Slot wonder set:

LB2
MS3
MD3

That sounds completely amazing. I'm dead serious, no sarcasm here. No arcade I've ever been to has ever done anything that cool. Walking into an arcade and seeing every single Metal Slug game side-by-side, or every single KOF game side-by-side... that must be incredible. If I actually saw something like that at this point, I would actually probably start crying, literally. Laugh if you want, but I probably would.

Crowd Pleaser:

Puzzle Bubble EX - better graphics than its prequel but familiar gameplay for children and women
MotW - gorgeous fighter for the teens and grownup fighting fans
Metal Slug 3 - great graphics and funfactor for all ages
Neo Turf Masters - superior golf game; should appeal to older folks

Wan-Fu Pleaser:

TSS - One of the most fun games for the hardware. Enough said.
Samurai Shodown - Great memories that remind me of the golden age of SNK.
Metal Slug - Still hoping to beat it with one quarter someday.
NAM-1975 - Another nod to the nostalgic bone in me.

Crowd Pleaser 6-slot:

Blazing Star: Who can resist these glorious pre-rendered sprites and special effects? This would be a way to get some of these people hooked on its genre.

Puzzle Bobble 2: The route select feature makes me choose this over the first one.

Garou MotW: The ultimate fighting game for the Neo-Geo. What more needs to be said?

Metal Slug 3: If you're looking for another worthy successor to Contra, this will do.

Neo Turf Masters: Better than Golden Tee, IMO.

KOF 2001: It's KOF. 'Nuff said.
