I'm picking up my Neo-Geo on Friday and need some advice on what games to look out for to get me started as I'm new to the console.

Can anyone help please?

I agree, you should also get King of the Monsters, Art of Fighting, Magician Lord, League Bowling, and King of Fighters '94.

Don't dive right in and buy all the newest games first. "New" does not mean "better".
