OK, man that info is a bit backwords, here is the deal on Garou.
Case color - Doesn't matter, but the two most common are a Opaque Green and a Clear case. I have also seen original in Black and Blue... but not very frequently.
Chips - Some offical Japanese (note some not all) contain EPROM chips, but they also contain the Security chip on the back board. The bootleg does not have the big security chip.
Endings - On MVS, the bootleg does not show endings, only something like Coming soon... all in the family. On AES, however, this boot would show endings (weird I know). The real version will show an ending if you beat Kain, but you may not see Kain on an original unless you play above AA.
Fight Kain - On the bootleg you always fight Kain, no matter how good or bad you do.
The only way to know is to open up the game, inspect the chips. If you see some EPROMs, don't panic, it may still be real. Play through the game and if you see Kain, but no endings... well, then you have the bootleg. If you don't see Kain, and DO NOT see endings, or you see Kain and see endings, then it is real.
