kool, I'm with you to some extend. I for myself have no problems whatsoever with loading times, neither on CDZ, nor on standard CD.
I had the chance to experiment with a CDZ lately, and found it just marginally faster than a normal CD console. I also noticed some loading problems with newer games, such as SS4, LB2 or KoF99, of course there were no probs with older titles.
There are a couple of games who should have been released on CD; Shock Troopers, NitD, Kizuna, to name a few, but as much as I'd like to have MotW on CD, it's technically impossible; the CD console has only a limited amount of RAM to store game data, which is not big enough to cope with giga games like KoF2k, MotW or MS3. Even with a lot of nasty animation cuts and deleting of samples, the loading times of MS3 CD would be inacceptable for even the most patient CD owner.
Unlike others on this BBS, I don't bash the CD console and its loading times. Hell, my lil' CD gives me the chance to own and play the best 2D fighting games on earth, for only a fraction of the MVS/AES price. Of course there are some cuts in CD versions, but none of them alter the original game play in any way.
With the AES2 discussion in mind, I would rather vote for a new CD version, with high loading speed, sufficient RAM and an external mem card. That could be the economical base of a series of re-releases of highly sought-after titles, for a much lower price.
The port of MotW on DC has shown that it's possible to release games with a high meg count on CD based consoles, with seemless loading times.
But that's just a dream I have... <IMG SRC="smilies/drool.gif" border="0">
