Just wondering - I have a memory card slot on my MVS, but I haven't bothered getting one yet. Can anybody recommend a place to get one from and tell how much they usually go for these days please? Would it be fairly easy to get hold of, or are they rarer than dodo crap?

I got one brand new in the box for $31 shipped on ebay. They pop up there sometimes.

There are also some listed under the Hardware section at http://www.dr-games.com/ for $45.

They're definitely worth it. Changing the control scheme in MS3 every time I fired it up was annoying until I got my memory card.

Cool, thanks for the info! One thing though - any idea what I can save exactly? I'm not using it with the home machine, but with my 1 slot MVS. Is it high scores, or stuff like that? I'm a bit new to the MVS thing, sorry if I sound dumb

Thanks for the help,
Kaz

I almost never use my memory card. I have no need to save anything.

Yeah, I'd like to know what function the memory cards serve too...I mean, do I really need one for, say, KOF 96 or Metal Slug MVS? What would the benefits be?

Yes, there's a battery.

I am in the market for a memory card too--I have a 1-slot but about 30 MVS carts, so things like high scores, unlocked characters, etc don't save if I change eight different games in a row (which happens often). Poof! There goes my Magical Drop 3 progress.

Yeah I know how you feel!

Also, do memory cards let you save your position on a fighting game if you die and don't continue? A friend of mine with the home system said that he can save his progress in a gamne on his home system, but I dunno if it is the same on an MVS?

In fighting games, if you run out of credits you can save your position and restart the fight with four more credits.

Meaning, with the memory card, you actually have unlimited credits. You can also cheat this way... like lets say you play through KOF 95 on a high difficulty level, but you just can't beat Rugal at the end no matter what you do, you can resume the save using a lower difficulty level

I wonder if this works in Metal Slug...

Yeah, does this work on Metal Slug 3. I can't beat the game with 8 credits as I suck.

I bought my memory card from some guy on ebay, brand new, for 25 dollars. 28 shipped. I have not recieved it yet though as I just won the acution a few days ago.

So, anyways, can someone answer the Metal Slug question?
