I opened up my Blazing star because the label looked wierd and I found that both boards have two different SNK dates. One says 1994 the other board 1997. Can anyone help me with this. It boots up with Blazing Star and plays fine but the label is something else. Does anyone have a scan of what an authentic japanese BS looks like?

The different dates are fine...

Blazing Star PROGBK1 (1994) / CHA512Y (1997)

That's what in both copies of my Blazing Star MVS carts. What oddies besides the dates on the boards are you seeing?

There are a lot of games like this. Look at Puzzle Booble 2, Strikers 1945, Metal Slug 3... etc. I think it was for cost cutting measures, and some old boards were found/reclaimed... I don't know... but it is normal and they are not bootlegs.

Did you buy it from Aslan11 on eBay? If so it's probably some piece of shit bootleg. The label looks official (if it has the holographic foil over it) but most of his products suck.

I bought a Blazing Star off of him a while back that looked exactly like that. Worked for about a week then broke.

I would be careful when buying anything from that guy.

Seems to be official game. Dates apply to creation (design) of the boards. And there's no need to update boards if existing ones works fine...

Thanks everyone for getting back to me. Yeah, the only thing is the dates, everything else looks good. Glad to know now that it is not a boot!
