How The Neo Geo Can Still LIve...sorta.

I know a lot of people are against homebrew Neo games. It seems to be 'if it ain't SNK, I don't want it'...that of course covers all other companies as well.

Here's a thought I'd like to throw out:

If SNK truely dies, stops supporting the Neo hardware even goes as far as stops making the games one of two things will likely happen.

1) Aruze will sell off all intellectual property (very likely)

2) Aruze will open source the software and hardware (very unlikely).

Now we've establish people in here have money. Lets say hypothetically, I buy the rights to....say....Fun Fun Brothers. I enter into a partnership with !Arcade! or someone to produce the game.

Who here would buy it? True technically it is not 'SNK' but it is an original, honest to god, NeoGeo game.

All of this, of course is a purely intellectual excercise as I have no concept, even remotely, of how much the rights to a game would cost.

I'd buy homebrew stuff! But I aint too sure how many arcade owners would...and that's where the real money in Neo-Geo is <IMG SRC="smilies/crying.gif" border="0">

But then again, this would just be a hobby thing. I dont know what I'm talking about *sigh*

Theoretically speaking, if you bought the rights for a game that I wanted, and you produced the game yourself, as long as everything was legit and the game played 100% I would consider getting it.

I would not however, pay a lot for it since it's not the original SNK one, and I think that steps should be made to differentiate between original SNK produced carts and the new ones.

Who cares who made it!!!

If the game is good it's worth the money.

What's homebrew anyway?? Could be a schoolkid mucking around, could be a pro wasting time. If gameplay is there it's a game not homebrew.....
