I find this ECM / GameGo debacle amusing. People have criticized me in the past
for not giving away free issues of Neo-News and for not printing every review I
receive, but nobody (including ECM) wants to
take responsibility for the money their readers spent on subscriptions. My crime is
the lesser (and overly exaggerated) evil in comparison to his.

You want a hardcore gaming god? I'll make some suggestions:

1) Dennis 'Thresh' Phong. Not my favorite person in the world but the dude makes all of his money playing videogames...and makes a lot. Hardcore.

2) Shigeryu Miyamoto. I hear a lot of people dis him, and that's fine. But look at the list of games he's made! Hardcore.

3) Gunpei Yokoi. The dude designed the GameBoy, Wonderswan (partial) and Virtual Boy as well as Metroid. Hardware and software god. Hardcore.


I think it's bullshit that people are all hopped up on someone who writes about games for a living instead of someone who:

Plays games for a living
Makes games for a living
Made games AND hardware for a living.

ECM was cool. He was VERY cool. But the emphasis here may be on the 'was'...who can tell. I hate making judgements about people unless I know the whole truth, but yea the dude does seem like a goatfucker.

Who can tell? I just think that GameGo is another sad chapter in the grand and wonderful history of games. Sometimes there are games that never get their chance that could have succeeded, sometimes for whatever reason a piece of hardware doesn't fly, even times where entire companies with epic history fold....and it looks like sometimes magazines with great great potential die.

Only for the past 4 years. I've been around the old Gamefan scene for a long time. I knew quite a few editors personally.

ECM & Dangohead were the ones I spoke to the most.

I also speak a lot to Shou-Sama & Kodomo but that of course makes no difference to me other than both of them are cool guys IRL. <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0">

Can someone either Post or PM me what exactly happened with ECM and GameGO!? Their Forums seem to be down, and with all the running around I have been doing of late, I seem to have missed something.
