I am a long term Neo Geo admirer but have only recently had the money to start collecting, I have read the threads about Chris and Dion, but was wondering how you can tell if an AES cart is a conversion short of ripping it to pieces to see inside?? Can somebody please help before I make a foolish purchase??!!??

Most conversions don't have a manual, so you might be warry to buy a high profile cart without the manual. Also, you can tell the conversions from the original cart by looking at the quality of the insert and the cart label. The quality of these are usually inferior to the SNK originals. You can always compare the graphics with the cart pics on this site. If you are buying a high profile cart, try to buy from a reputable source. Good luck.

Conversions are not allowed for sale on this website, so you dont have to worry too much about buying one from the advertised games for sale here in the fourms.

On Ebay I'd say most people selling conversions will advertise the Auctions accordingly.

If there was any doubt about a game not being original, it will most likely be exposed somewhere on the fourms here before that Auction ends.

Some of the most common games to convert are MVS game which were never released on Home Cart Format. Others include:

Metal Slug, Metal Slug 2, Ninja Masters, Kizuna Encounter, Blazing Star, Pulstar,......... basically any Neo Geo Game that is worth more than $450.00 for in its original Authentic Home Cart Format.

Those games mentioned above are the most common conversions out there. If you are looking for those high dollar Neo Titles the seller will usually provide personal references and pictures of the goods for sale. wink

I would not worry about this too much, just ask questions to the seller or dont be afraid to ask about a persons reputation or feedback in the selling fourms.

Regards,
Robert

Thanks for your help guys, but...

I think that I may already have a converted english Ultimate 11 (I didn't pay thousands for it so I'm not too bothered if it is), but the actual cart looks like the pictures on this site, if I send anyone hi-res images can they tell me??

Post the pics here if you can. Does your U11 have a manual with it?

No manual, no, not looking very promising is it?? Oh well, it's still a quality game that's worth playing (which is probably a good thing as it looks like I might be stuck with it wink )

Did you buy it from bzbuzz?
He always states his conversions as such in his auctions...

And dont worry, considering the nutty price for the original AES,you certainly ARE better off with your conversion! smirk
