I finally got to play some ROTD today.
I put it in the cab and planned on just testing it out and playing it for a little before I went on to finish some other projects.
I never got to the other projects.
Man, is this game *FUN*. I mean SERIOUS fun. The 45 minute learning curve with this game that everyone talks about is 100% true. I was getting my ass royally kicked for close to an hour and then suddenly.. it all made sense. I stopped before I got to fight Johann, just so I could practice my combos... which brings me to...
The combo engine in this game is insanely fun. The launch-dial-then custom system makes it really enjoyable.
I seriously have not been this impressed and drawn into a fighting game in 10+ years.
I can't get enough of it. The graphics are REALLY top-notch, impressive even for the Neo and the music is a nice change of pace from the rut the Neo fell into many years ago. What was fun and original years ago with the Neo is now old hat. RoTD breaks through that, nay... SMASHES through that.
The specials are good, as are the supers.
It's not exactly for the hard-core technical fighting fan, though. I'm sure people have found flaws in the game.
VT's opinion:
If you don't like this game, you should be banished to an existence where you clean out Christopher Reeves' urine bag every 15 minutes.
For $69 for the MVS cart, you REALLY can't go wrong!
More to come as I'm going back downstairs again for more. BUY THIS FREAKING GAME.

I just feel cheated that this sort of drivel can get released.
