Are new Neo Geo games STILL censored on the US AES?

I know I've heard about games like Samurai Showdown and Metal Slug being censored on US NGH systems. Is that still true to this day? Are games like Metal Slug 3 and 4 still censored? I have Sengoku 3 and it appears to have blood in it. What about the newer fighting games?

Yep, sadly those of us with USA AES' are still denied the delights of Mai's jiggiling boobies in KoF2002.

God, that's sad when the boobies of Dead or Alive bounce all they wants.

Amazing! I thought after all this time that the newer Neo games wouldn't be censored. I mean even Nintendo got over their anti-blood stance. Hell they even released BMX XXX on the GameCube and that game had nudity! I wonder if SNK vs. Capcom and Metal Slug 5 will be censored? I suppose if I had to choose between a few frames of added 'jiggle' or a splash of blood vs. being able to actually read the game story I choose being able to read the story. :( Still wish I could get both without modding my system. What about game codes to enable bounce and blood?

Just to make a point as to how daft SNK's cencoring is.....

In KoF2002, Mai's boobies (I like that word, 'boobies' :D ) dont jiggle in her normal stance, yet they still jiggle in one of her winposes, and 'that' HSDM is still in the game - along with all of its ass-wiggiling glory.

But what should I care, I'm more of a Leona man myself.

Hehe, 'boobies' (snigger)

I think it's more to do with the fact that they are arcade games. They are designed for Cabs which are mainly in public places. AES versions tend to be the arcade version with a some extras so it isn't changed.

Gamecube, PS2 etc. are games made on the whole specifically for console use in the home. These games tend to have some certification which is enforced by the shop owner at sale.

What about games like Sengoku 3? Are there any differences between the US and JP modes of the game besides language? Does anyone know if games like Shock Troopers get censored when you play the game on a US NGH system?

Actually, Mai's jiggles in a good majority of her moves in 2002, but she suddenly becomes non-jiggle the moment she's back in her standing/walking animation. Usually Blue Mary (who is usually more pronounced in her extra motion) doesn't get censored when Mai does. Anyone else remember the odd case of selective censoring throughout the years?

heh!
In the UK several of the Tabloid newpapers have a topless women on Page 3, but anyone can buy it no matter what age they are.

I cannot see what harm a pixilated bosum jiggle can do, or red blood for that matter.

I know also that K9999's arm gun move was censored as well so it's not just that (Matrimelee music as well !! )

In any event did snk and do playmore think that they would get into trouble for it?? - they should make stuff like that available through the language selection screen only rather than bios.

I agree. That way it puts the censorship responsibility on the arcade operators. If they choose to turn it on, they can. But to make limitations that the arcade operators have less control of, kind of seems silly.

I mean, if there was a choice to not have the japanese score fully represented in Matrimelee, as opposed to the full score, that should've easily been an option. I hardly see anybody being happy with a forced lockout of that nature.

I have personally NEVER understood this whole censorship thing on the Neo. How many little kids have you ever seen that had or could even afford a home Neo Geo? Come on...what kind of consumers did SNK think they had in North America?

Honestly, though, I think it stemmed from the whole Mortal Kombat witch hunt that started here in the good ol' USA around that time. Yet 10 years later it still gets censored...'sigh'

At least we have ways around it :D

The least they could do is provide a code to unlock blood but to have no option at all totally blows. Still like I said I'd prefer to be able to read what characters are saying rather than seeing some animated blood... but I want BOTH!! very_ang blow_top

Most Neo carts from about '96 and beyond that are booted in normal Japanese home versions have an English language option that DOES NOT censor the game. If you have Debug bios, try that.

I'm glad there's no blood in the US games... Pixel blood might drive me to kill people...

Honestly though, it's time to bounce and bleed SNK.
