Like everyone else here, I have been reading and examining every scrap of info and evidence pertaining to SvCC. I thought I'd share my personal take on this game.
I, like many of the older hardcore SNK folks here, have been dreaming of some kind of appearance of Street Fighter/Capcom folk on the Neo hardware since day one. I literally have had dreams of finding games like Final Fight and SFA1/2 on the Neo*Geo in imaginary stores for years. So for many of us this literally IS a dream come true. Seeing longtime Capcom faves like Guile and Chun-Li drawn with such great detail and color on the Neo MVS just makes me get all fuzzy and nostalgic.
Does this mean I expect this game to have perfect, faultless gameplay? God no.
Every SNK (or Capcom) fighting series debuts with a load of promise, and a few flaws. Right now this game does seem to have a heavy emphasis on the shotos, but you have to understand that Playmore is most likely just doing their best to satiate the large Capcom fanbase, who does indeed adore their shoto chars. (I know that's a generalization, but if you've seen the endless Team Shotos on XBL CvS2, you know it ain't that far off).
Recycled KoF sprites are indeed somewhat disappointing, but if a financial heavyweight like Capcom has been doing it for years, I can forgive a smaller company like Playmore for doing it. They've still outdone themselves with the insane work on all the Capcom folk and Earthquake/Tabasa. The roster is already far more adventurous than Capcom got with CvS.
In short, I expect a great time, seeing the Capcom folks on the Neo hardware will be awesome.
The game WILL have some flaws, but hopefully nothing broken. I'm still waiting for some better impressions of this game in terms of sound. Any vintage reproductions of classic SF2 music? Quality of the voices?
