I`m returning to the world of Neo Geo after a 9 year break...back in my day :old-git-smiley: I seem to remember it saying on the home system box that the carts could go to 330 megs maximum but just reading thru the games released since then I see they go as far as 708 megs now!!!

Did they find a new way to raise the limit or was it just a load of old rubbish in the first place?

I remember being blown away by the 100 Mega Shock Games lol (b.t.w was Art of Fighting the first 100meg+ game?)

that limit never existed.

When neogeo was released all the games were around 40/50mbits

So neogeo said a huge number for it's time like 330 as a sign of power.

I guess SNK never imagine that the neo could last so long. In time the 330mbit thing wasn't productive because the games were BIGGER than that "limit"

So snk just rebranded the neo as giga-power, a more appealing name.

The 330 mega barrier was broken in 1995 when Real Bout Fatal Fury came out. It is 346 megs. There is one game that is exactly 330 megs and that game is Ninja Master's and it came out in 1996. Ninja Master's is a great game but is highly expensive and can cost you over $500.

Since you left the scene you may be wondering how much games cost. Many of the games back in 1994 and before that are cheap. There are some (like Windjammers) that will retain their value. If you had left the scene in 1996 you would have missed out on Metal Slug. That game sells for around $2,000 in its English form and around $1,500 in its Japanese form - mint condition of course.

I hope that this answers your question. :)

Yes, it's the first 100 meg game.
I spent $200+ on this baby when it first came out on AES. Thanks for Gamefan information wink
