I don't think there'll be any sprite updates. This is simply the <a href="http://www.snkplaymore.jp/consumer/sim_ps.html" target="_blank">"PS one Books" / "SNK BEST COLLECTION"</a> low-priced re-release of Samurai Spirits Amakusa Kourin SPECIAL for PlayStation (with a new cover illustration).

No, it's not. Again, this is simply the "PS one Books" / "SNK BEST COLLECTION" low-priced re-release of Samurai Spirits Amakusa Kourin SPECIAL for PlayStation (with a new cover illustration). SSAK is known outside Japan as Samurai Shodown IV Amakusa's Revenge. SSAK SPECIAL was originally released for Japanese PlayStation in 1997, and this re-release was made available on 4/24/2003. The <a href="http://www.snkplaymore.jp/consumer/sim_ps.html" target="_blank">"PS one Books" / "SNK BEST COLLECTION"</a> games are all re-releases of PS ports of popular SNK titles from the late '90s (SamSpi III & IV, KOF '97 & '98 & '99, and Metal Slug X).

The new SamSpi game (being referred to as Samurai Spirits [or Shodown] 5, for lack of an official title) won't be out til later this year.
