I'm pretty new to the Neo scene and I recently bought my first system on eBay. Here's the link;
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1345735570

It seemed like I was getting a steal at first, but when I got it, there was no Sengoku, there was no "Neo box", the control didn't work right, the games didn't have boxes or manuals (they did have inserts though) and there was obviously no Superbike Challenge. I emailed him and he told me Sengoku was broken and the box was too ripped up so he threw them both out! Great.

Anyway what I did get is;
1 working USA Neo Geo console - a little scratched up
1 partially working old style joystick
1 Baseball Stars Pro - cart only and a soiled insert
1 Riding Hero - " " "
1 Top Players Golf - " " "

Was this worth the price?

Although it seems you got a pretty good deal , you still got ripped off because he is supposed to GIVE you what he offered in the auction .

I cant stand people like that .

Demand your sengoku , or a partial refund .

A little tip for you, never buy from ebay, unless you see a picture of what you are buying.

Well, anytime you don't get what you thought you were going to, it's an "auction gone bad" in my opinion. That seller looks like a total loser, and I'd request your money back if I were you, but I doubt you'd get it (he threw stuff away? )

Assuming you're stuck with it, make the best of what you have and build from there. $170 for a working Neo isn't a total loss by any means, you just need a better working joystick and some nice games. I suggest you try this website - he's an honest guy with quality products, and has some of the cheaper games:

http://www.mad-gear.com/

Good luck, and just some advice - don't place bids over $50 with someone who has no feedback. Live and learn, I guess. :)

Well you got a NeoGeo with three games and an old style stick for 172,50$....that sounds ok for me...but you have to consider the following:
You won and paid for an auction that included a NeoGeo with Box/Manual, 4 games, Stick + MemoryCard.
You obviously didn't get what you've paid for at all. 1 missing game, 1 wrong game, no box, no manual, no memory card, broken stick and everything else in poor condition.
Considering this you've been ripped off. But I think you've been warned by his '-1' feedback.

It's funny that the item title says three games, the description says four games and you get two of them plus one that hasn't been listed.

I usually don't bid on items listed by '0' or '-X' people...it's too risky.

A nice atmosphear for buying anything Neo can be found in the Wanted & Selling fourms, at least this way the people you deal with are the fine friendly folks here at the neo-geo.com boards. And they're pretty good at not ripping people off, and friendly to boot.

YOU GOT RIPPED OFF! DON'T BUY FROM HIM! I GAVE HIM THAT NEGATIVE FEEDBACK! HE BIDDED ON MY AES SYSTEM A WHILE AGO FOR 300. HE SAID HE WAS NEW. SO I ASKED HIM FOR A MONEY ORDER OR PAYPAL. HE WHINED AND SAID "Why can't I use my debit card! How do i know you are going to rip me off?" THIS LOSER EVEN USED BUY IT NOW ON MY ITEM. SO I NEVER GOT ANY RESPONSE FROM HIM UNTIL I GOT THIS E-MAIL SAYING "Please forgive us. Our 16 year old son was using our account and came to us asking for 300.00. We are sorry and it will not happen again." AND THAT WAS THE LAST I HEARD FROM HIM. DON'T BUY! I REPEAT DO NOT BUY FROM HIM!!!! SAVE DO NOT BUY FROM THIS JERK!!

I think what you got for the money was ok, so don't get too upset over it. BUT, you have to leave negative feedback so others know he can't run a proper auction!

Got to agree - eventhough he posted Neo and 3 games he still mentioned 4 in the text - so you should get 4

The games you got are not great and Sengoku would make it a hell of a better deal

Laughing at him should help...

Try your damn best to get a refund for the stuff that was missing. The deal you got really isn't that bad, but there's no reason you should have to pay for the stuff that wasn't there.

I mean, if you can get even 20-30 bucks back...

Just keep in mind that eBay won't help you here - the seller has negative feedback. It couldn't hurt to get their phone number, though. Ebay should still provide that. Most people are much more willing to make things right if you call them...

Don't pay attention to Chimp. He's still smarting from his ill-conceived attempt to inhale as much semen as possible in order to gain weight (despite the fact that it worked for his mom, she's as big as a house). Also his try at 'cel-shading' to make his manhood appear more robust tanked as well...so he's a bit cranky these days.

As far as your deal, um, it's kinda middle of the road. Instead of hassling on a refund, I'd just focus on the fact that you did indeed land a Neo console at not TOO bad of a price (better and worse deals exist.) Just peruse the Selling forum on this board, there are great deals to be had from the likes of 16-bit, Gamers Abyss, wjw123, and Neo Turf Masta (just some of the people I've bought from on here.) EBay can be a cesspool, learn the good sellers on this board and you'll do just fine. Welcome to the world of Neo. If that's the worst you're ever scammed, count yourself quite lucky!

I knew it would be a risky auction ahead of time, but I didn't think I could go wrong for $172. In hindsight, I'm lucky most of the things worked. Repair bills can add up quickly as I've found out.

I don't think I'm quite SOL yet since I paid through Billpoint (eBay payments). He did agree to send me another old style joystick, after I threatened to file an insurance claim with Billpoint. I really don't want to go through the hassle of returning everything, but it is more about the principal here. Would the extra old style even the deal in anybody's opinion?

That definately helps. Request a refund for Sengoku, though. If he doesn't refund, like, 20-30 dollars for that, I'd still file a claim. Don't let him get away with this, even though you didn't get that bad of a deal.

I wouldn't bother sending it all back. For the price, what you got is a pretty decent deal (once you get that new joystick), and who knows if you'll ever get the money...
