Saw the Xbox at the mall yesterday. I'm not impressed.

They have playable kiosks now at Software Etc. and EB. I watched one guy play that Oddworld sequel or whatever the hell it was (I always thought those games sucked myself), and I also watched some of the demos, including Amped (the snowboarding game).

Graphically, these games are soundly beaten by my copy of GT3 (the best racer ever IMO). I can't see why anyone would jump at this system right now, aside from Halo, the hype for which I don't really get either. The PS2 is finally hitting its stride, with some of the best games I've ever seen (Silent Hill 2, GT3, Devil May Cry, etc.). And the GameCube's lower price point and better lineup through the end of the year make it a better second console to own (aside from the Neo of course ) than Xbox.

"Neo Geo roolz" fanboy snobbery aside, what do you guys think of the current console lineup?

Neo Goe Rules j00!! Jk

All jokes aside then? Well, if I had to pick one of the new systems, I'd go with GC. I'm not a big fan of special editions and DOA series, so XBOX at this point is not really keeping my interest. Maybe when it has some of the SEGA stuff on it.

Realistically, I want to wait until I can score a GCN for around the area of 150 CDN. I'm not ready to pay more than than.

XBOX will not be a purchase until a really strong library of games is avaiable and it has established themsleves. IF XBOX becomes a fixture, then I will consider the purchase of a system. And that is IF I cannot get the SEGA games I want for it on a PS2 (which I own, Looking really forward to VF4).

I am just going to concentrate on NEO games and older Mega Drive/Genesis stuff.

As I side note, I really think the demand for XBOX is being created artificially.

GameCube looks to be a great system with a lot of great games but I feel as if its marketing itself to another demographic, different from me. Luigi, Wave Racer, Smash Bros., Rouge Squadron, all look to be incredible games in there own respect... but there just not my cup of tea. Games that I'm really looking forward to are Pikmin and Super Monkey Ball but really I can wait until January or Febuary when Eternal Darkness and Resident Evil 1 comes out to finally be able to pick up the system.

The one right now that'll I'll get at release is Xbox specificly for Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee and Halo.
