It's sort of like X-Men vs Street Fighter lite (by lite, I mean minus the tag-anywhere feature, the ability to provide assists, and fewer characters and backgrounds). If you don't feel like rolling the dice on an expensive AES cart, get it on MVS.</STRONG>

<STRONG>I'm a huge fan of Savage Reign and even so, I thought Super Tag was terrible (I tracked down a Kizuna cart and paid $600 for it... a mistake, but I'm going to hang on to it because it's a collector's item).
-With the exception of Jyazu (who is a head swap of Gozu/Mezu from Savage Reign), Rosa, and Kim Sue Il [aka Kim Yong Mok], all of the character sprites are completely recycled from Savage Reign. Savage Reign was an amazing game because of all its cool little options and freaky characters, but it looked like a cross between AoF2/FF2; it came out in '94; Samurai Shodown came out in '93 and looked about 1000 times better.
-The combo system is simplistic and boring: it's basically weak attack+weak attack+strong attack+strong attack/weapon+special. For every single character. Technically, there are "air chains" like the Marvel games, but the opponent has to already be airborne for them to work (meaning you meet them as they're ascending and start combo-ing them). They're not that great anyway.
-Even though Rosa and Sue Il look ok standing still, they looked terrible in motion, along with the rest of the characters. Super Tag had the same "big sprites with too few frames of animation" thing going as SS3/SS4; this was especially apparent when you KO your opponent. The game goes into slow-motion, and, like SS3/SS4, your character looks like a static paper cutout floating in air.
-Even though he looks cool in the posters, Kim Sue Il is pretty disappointing; his fighting stance is lame, and his taunt (stretches his neck, like Takuma in KoF '98) is silly. He could've been cool.
-Rosa is OK; she looks pretty cool, but she's a straightforward character with straightforward quarter-circle specials and boring combos.
-The two bosses are King Leo (sprite ripped directly from Savage Reign, no touch-up, no nothing, and same voice, too), who is slightly easier to beat than in Savage Reign, and Jyazu, who is a crow-headed version of Gozu & Mezu (the gas-mask ninjas), but on steroids, and incredibly cheap. He's voiced by the same actor who does Sokaku and Gato from Fatal Fury, and sounds amazing. But neither is very fun to fight. You can access both characters via boss code, but that ruins what little challenge there is to the game (the AI is stupid up to the bosses).
-Joker replaced his jack-in-the-box with a bunch of axes and swords (which is cool), but replaced his barking chimp with a silent rabbit (not cool), and has the exact same DM as Savage Reign.
Again, even though I loved Savage Reign, I found very, very little to like in Super Tag.</STRONG>
