For elimination's sake- it's neither Bust-A-Move, BAM 2, Neo Turf Masters, any Metal Slug, Pulstar, Blazing Star, Galaxy Fight, Last Resort, nor any of SNK's own fighting games.

So what the Hell could it POSSIBLY be? Perhaps... Legend of Success Joe? That game's not very good in any department.

KoF '99 and KoF '2000 were also pretty bad.

oh come on. KoF 99 and 00 were fine - especially compared to the non-soundtrack of 97 (which happens to be my favorite KoF).

worst soundtrack for a neo fighter is the more substantial argument - my vote goes to SamSho 4.

Compared to the classic tunes of KoF '94 and '95, all of '99's and '00's music was lame, cheesy techno. Pretty much expected for most [other] fighting games, but KoF had always been a cut above until '99. '97 did have music tracks for certain characters (Terry, Yamazaki, Athena, and few others) and had ambient music in the back that might not've been that great, but at least it wasn't offensive.

I found the techno tracks fitting for team japan (sans beni and shingo) and Krizalid. Honestly, the music is at its best in KoF 95/94 (depending on my mood, but between those two).

worst music is so tough... so many games that have bad music here and there, but none really deserves to be called the worst for music.

C'mon, '99 was Iori's best year, soundtrack-wise. Kyo's and the Ikari's BGM wasn't bad either. Granted, the PS team was horrible that year (like every year).
And am I the only person that LIKES the ambient noise in '97?

BTW, worst soundtrack goes to either KotM, Crossed Swords, or any WH game

I'm gonna go with Crossed Swords out of those three. KotM has AWESOME music if you let it play for a while (really long BGMs, impressive at the time, escpecially the Kobe level). World Heroes had bad sound quality but very good composition, most of the earlier WH tracks were pretty catchy (gotta love the Death Match BGM ). Crossed Swords one really good track, but it only had like four tracks total.

If you heard the same tune while playing Crossed Swords every time, no matter how good that tune was you'd come to hate it... Heheh, Crossed Swords is just that loathesome a game

That was the intention of my post. I've beaten Crossed Swords so believe me I know how bad and grating the overall music is.

Stop the world! I wanna get off! The only thing that was bad about the soundtrack was that not every character had a soundtrack (KOF97 and the Last Blade games also suffered the same problem; but they're all still fine as is.).

I just got the Samurai IV OST today and I absolutely LOVE it! Okay, this is just the music, I also got the game today but haven't fired it up yet to see how it works in action, but come on, that music is tops! I was going to sell the soundtrack at first. I did the normal test play (and again and one more time still), and so my mind was more than changed. Unless one of you are dying for it. (I can always get it again)

No, it was one of SNK's worst. This is the company that brought us the traditional Japanese theater music in Samurai Shodown 1&2; the very, very memorable and excellent tracks in KOF '94 and '95, and the outstanding jazzy soundtrack of AOF3 (arrange). Both KoF '99's and '2000's cheesy techno soundtracks are complete garbage in comparison. If another video game company turned out '99's and 2000's soundtrack I wouldn't have batted an eye, but I'd come to expect more from SNK, and I'd think more people would too.

No, you're not the only person; I was disappointed in it for the most part, but the Bali stage grew on me after a while (even though that was technically music).
