if you own an AES and a pinball machine? The big question is: does the arcade hardware need to be "packaged" in a huge cab to be considered arcade worthy? I'd love to be able to say this with full confidence.

The AES is not an arcade machine - it is a home console, plain and simple. If you told someone that you got an arcade machine, do you think they would go over to your place expecting to see a cab, or an AES sitting on the floor? Likewise, a Supergun and a stack of PCBs is a bit different from having a gameroom lined with cabs. I'd go so far as to call the Supergun a console, because in the end it boils down to playing the games sitting in front of a TV.

So to answer the question, yes the hardware needs to be packaged into a cab to be arcade worthy - don't call it an MVS if it isn't. As a lot of people here can tell you, there is a difference between playing in front of the TV, and playing at a cab, ecspecially growing up with the Neo at the arcades. You yourself also said the AES just doesn't feel the same as an arcade machine, in the AES vs. MVS thread.

I've seen the other threads, it appears to me you created this topic since you've given up on getting an MVS cab, and are now trying to convince yourself that your AES is one Its never too late too switch over to MVS. What is holding you back?

IT'S TRUE! IT'S ALL TRUE! I'm in AES denial! I just don't have the space for an MVS.
