Beyond the fact that I'm totally confused why the Japanese do it, they seem to include a spine card with every CD they make.

I'm not an obsessive collector, but I try to keep my games in good shape. How do you keep the spine card nice?

Do they make Spine Card Sleaves to put in a 3 ring binder like baseball cards?

Right Now I'm currently keeping them seperate from the games, but I'd like to have them together.

Who has some helpful household suggestions for the big guy???

I just usually put the spine card in front of the manual in the jewel case....makes things alot easier.

I just pop the CD tray out. and put the spine card or anything else that came in the booklet under it, and put it back in.

They stay flat and you never lose em. Putting them behind the book is a hassle, cause you have to take it out whenever you remove the book, my freind does it like that, and his spine cards always get ripped and bent

I do it exactly like that, or put it in the manual, or if its in a double case, put it behind the manual

I do it like that too, or I put it in the manual.

I don't see what the big-ass deal is with spine cards anyway.

Who gives a fuck.

Meh. Like I said. It's not an absolutely necessary thing, but If I can keep it nice without too much effort I will.

I like to keep my games together as well. I unfold the spine cards and place them behind the outer tabs that hold the manuals. An exception is with the FFT sountrack; its spine card is permanently attached on the back of the case.

On a side note, it's interesting to know that on the front of the CvS spine card the words "2D will never die" are written in Japanese.

I always leave them on the outside of the case, like how you get them when they're new. I simply love their decorative properties.

I used to keep my Japanese CD's in re-sealable plastic wrappers though last month asked myself "what the fuck have I become?" and threw all the wrappers away, though I still keep the CD's the same way. The albums look so plain, drab, even ugly, without the cards, and I like the way the spine cards overlap onto the booklet cover.

As for their use, it's for sorting CD's (they all display the CD# and from experience are nearly all stored in stores such that you see the spine, not the cover) as well as advertizing things like release date, discontinue date, price (before and/or after tax)*, promotions within that series of CDs, coupons I have even heard of, detailed listing of contents, including bonuses, etc.

*keep in mind, in Japan items usually have a national price printed on them, so if the price is on the spine card, it saves the need to blemish the booklet/back insert with such things. Who wants to be forever reminded about money anyway?

Well I just like to keep my stuff together.
(IE: The spine cards etc.)
I am not diehard in that light though.
In fact, not a single MVS cart I have is complete, most are beat-up with the usual wear. :P No boxes, some have marquee's but not all.

Also the problem with certain spine cards is they are just a bit bigger then the spine of the case. so you cannot use the method I showed in the scan ;( Luckily those cards are on the odd's, I do remember getting a larger one with my Endless Waltz CD though.

FFT didn't come with a spine card. It came in a 2 disk set with a slipcase. Unless you got something other than the Digicube release.

BLAINE, most people lie theres flat in the middle of the manuel or do it the way LWK does it. I think the best way is this: if you get the game new and it is in the plastic. take a sharp razor and cut the side opposite the spine card off so the plastic acts as a slip case. I do this with all me neo cd's, dreamcast games and anything else I have with a spine card. I think this is the best way because to me, the spine cards are meaningless if they are not displayed and are just sitting in the instruction booklet. just my opinion though. however,I do recomend trying the slip cover idea.

LOL,
Well damn I thought I was the ONLY one that did that. I just do the same. pop the CD tray out, Lay the Spine card flat under it, & Pop the tray back in.

It's safe, Flat, and you won't ever have to worry about losing/tearing it again. <IMG SRC="smilies/smile.gif" border="0">

I don't see what's so important about it, if a game has it then it does, if it doesn't I don't care much.

I mean a games not worth anymore to me with or without it. All it's meant to be is a price tag and have advertisments for other games on it.

I put them behind the CD tray backing and forget about em, I don't throw them away like Snake however.

I think it's only an issue to the "Purist collector" I like them because it's the way the game came new.....I guess with an analogy it's like keeping the sticker that seals the top of a playstation game? I know I have kept a couple of those, just because I wish that American games had the spine card tooo.........

lol now thats something i never did, saving the PSX sticker, that has no value to me and I throw them away everyttime, same with DVDs.

On new import cds games ect I keep the spine cards nice, but on used stuff it doesn't matter anything to me, if it has it then it's a plus.
