Guys I really would like to know one question!!

WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON AROUND HERE?

I have gotten a shit load of e-mail from members of this board for help in fraud cases and it seems like it is getting worse!! More and more people every day are getting shafted by scammers joining here for a quick sting and never being heard from again. I have also heard past scammers are changing thier nicks and rejoining to rip more people off!! something must be done!! Any suggestions?

I'm sure a vocal minority will hate this idea, but why not restrict access to the selling forums to people who meet certain criteria, like being a member for at least a month.

Most scammers don't want to waist that much time setting up a scam, and will run off to the easiest forum they can find.

It wouls also require a little more dilligence by the mods (and more of them, besides Bio. Maybe we can see more of our mods in action?)

Like I said, I'm sure it is going to be booed into the ground. But if we refuse to change, nothing is going to happen.

Thats a good idea Jigen.

Well, the only way to prevent a scam is to not take the bait of course.
Then again, not everyone is out to screw you.. but yet then again, not everyone is an honest guy.

If it's too good to be true, it is.

And make sure you check if he/she has VALID feedback.

If not, forget it and be patient, it's not the end of the world and you guarantee yourself you won't get fucked by that person.

Just my belief.

I feel that this place is indeed a hot spot for scammers. It's getting bad, hell even a guy I've known on here for quite some time thought that I was trying to scam him on a botched trade (I quickly gave him is asking price for his goods instead of the trade, and refunded his shipping cost of shipping my goods back to me).

Then there's stuff like this...

Is it possible to have some kind of feedback system like ebay where sellers have feedback ?

More positive feedback = More trust

Yes it is true but since the buyers on this board are more skeptical of their purchaces and check the merchandise thuroughly it would be harder to be a scammer in a collector-rich enviorment especially when feedback will be left , its easier to scam on ebay when the world is your shopping center for the original Joe-Shmo .

Yeah Sonny this place is a whore house for scam artist's.

Steps to prevent it.

1.)Never Trade or buy from someone unless you know there a trust worthy seller/trader.

2.)Always ask for multipile ways to contact the seller so that the deal goes off with out a hich [EX. Phone Number Email Adress] the more the better.

3.)Dont trust anyone on the boards unless your 100% sure there legit because even the nice guys can be fucking scam artists.

Thats all i can think of for right now.

The Market forums should be.. I don't know how to say this, perhaps "less easily available". Make people be a member for at least 3 months before they can sell, although anybody can be able to buy. Have people fill out applications and such. Sure this would mean more work for the mods and such, but it's kinda scary how anybody can just come into the selling forum and have a good chance of ripping somebody off, right out of the blue.

Yeah thats true i rember when i was making bogus accounts like crazy and spamming asking

"Im looking for Mike Tysons Punchout for $200 im not willing to play no more or no less"

hell the game isnt even a neo game let alone a bootleg mans classic. if i can easily make somthing that stupid whats stoping the scammers from preying on people.

Jigen's Idea i agree with i'd say people should be a member for over a month before they can sell stuff therefore limiting the number of scammers here.

Another idea could be "rating" each member.

I saw this feature in another forum and I think it's very usefull to know the reputation of each member...

...It's like the feedback on Ebay...

I think this is an excellent idea, but would go with SonGohan's three month suggestion. Restricting access would be easy - give people a password. The board generates passwords for new members, so just make the Sales forum password accessible.
You get your password after three months, and say min. 50 posts, so we know you're not just a 'goal hanger'.

If anyone then goes on to abuse the system, we should hava three strikes and your out policy - three bad transactions (I do mean major bad) and you're banned (from the sales forum at least).

Anyways, that's my idea.

GA - check your pm please. :)

Yeah, one months, three months.

Then scammers easily create accounts in advance. Really helpful.

As helpful as a rating system, which can be used by i.E. NGF to make multiple accounts and give themselves the best feedbacks. If you then buy an offer from those fake accounts you got either a bootleg or a freaked or whatever.

So what may the solution be?! To me it is very obvious! As long as it is profitable there will always be scam.

So the only solution is:

LOWER THE PRICES! AND DELETE THE PRICE GUIDE!

You're missing the point, the_move. If you make it harder for scammers, there will be less scams. Nobody is saying all the scams will quit, but they should go down in numbers in any case. Feedback ratings aren't a good idea though.

A thing I would like to see, although the chances of it happening are less likely than venturis typing a legible post, is a transaction page. Hosted by somebody respectable. It could have details of transactions (trades, sells, etc). Giving both names of people who completed satisfactory transactions. Both of these people could give the manager of that site details of the transaction and another person could agree to the same thing.

Now you're probably thinking "some assfuck can grab 3 or 4 of his friends and easily make himself look good". People will be able to see that. People will be looking for people who have done deals with people who frequent the board a lot, and can attest to many things for the other person.

Now let's say person #1 has sold GamersAbyss, Pichai, and Wolf a few games. Those are some of the most trustworthy people on this board. Would you buy from that guy? Probably. Now say person #1 sold stuff to member 4134, member 4001, and member 3990. I'd stay clear of him like the plague.

In any case, there are chances of getting scammed from any person. The thing is to make it harder and more difficult for people to scam. I have absolutely no idea why I just typed all of the above, because it would never work. It's cool to think and ponder about certain situations though..

i ve had the pleasure of being ripped by AIM HIGH.
i m in the middle of trying to retract payment right now.
whats fun is sellers like him and wing zero who
are good to a point then start scamming people.
i say deal with who you trust.
too bad i dont know many people who i would deal
with mvs carts except for some ebay sellers.

I think a 4 month waiting period before you can sell is good .

If your really into the Neo , trust worthy people are important .

This system is not like other systems , these games are like gold .

Yep, I say it's not safe here until the_mouth has been banned. This guy is a total scam artist.

Also, having a feedback list would be a major pain for whoever wants to maintain it.
