Your opinions on the new "rule system"

What are your honest opinions on it?
Personally, I like this BBS on a USER FRIENDLY level.
"oh but DSD threatined chimp etc etc.

Lets be honest here, I got no real issues with Chimp but thats some mad funny shit if you get my drift.

Do you think TonK, TOOL and SAMHAIN should have been suspended?
Why were three examples made before this even took place, how about a early disclaimer?
Just strikes me weird, then I see stuff dissapearing left and right.
Man this aint cool...
I know people are not supposed to threatin others, but I find it a bit odd that three people had to be suspended.
Maybe they were warned god only knows.

Threatening people in forums or message boards should be totally unacceptable behavior. Its one thing to throw out JOKING threats in the war room, but beyond that there is NO excuse and NO justification for it. If people can't coexist WITHOUT personal threats, then they should be REMOVED from the community PERMANENTLY.

As for TOOL, DSD, and TonK, all three made threatening comments and were suspended as a result. Without some kind of order in these forums, things will degenerate and the community will eventually be destroyed. <IMG SRC="smilies/mad2.gif" border="0">

I know that I've left other message boards in the past, cuz the degenerate into nothing but shouting matches and "me too's". I sure as hell would like some civility and order here. I love this board and come here several times every day. I'd hate for it to get to a point where I want to stop coming.

No deleting.
I appreciate if the mods have control over the forums,but if something gets out of control,it should not be deleted,but sent into the War Room.As Shawn himself stated:anything goes there!

I also don't like this 'banning' of someone...
I know DSD was really overdoing it,but i want to hear EVERYBODYS opinion.If someone decides to act childish,nobody will listen to him anyway.

I don't think I would have banned DSD but I would encourage him to start a new thread if he wishes to continue with his false accusations & defamation. This would eliminate his interruption of credible threads..
We can't turn every thread into a FLAME BATTLE.

With good reason.
Speech is speech regardless of how its being proclaimed, whether it be the net or a crappy phone connection, the point can be received.

here's the problem: everyone has a right to free speech, but Shawn pays for the board, and so he has a right to toss a membership into suspension.

An analogy: You can go class and say fuck, shit, ass, cunt, and the teacher can't tell you to shut up (violation of free speech), but the teacher can refuse to grade your work/tests (utilization of free speech / right to remain silent), thereby cutting your voice in the classroom.

Did you ever read that thread over at Dolphinlords (i don't know if you guys were around then (except BB and chimp)) about the kid scammer who robbed another scammer and ended up dead from a mailbomb? It's not an urban legend, as you can find the articles from lexusnexus. The internet is a scary place. Don't assume all threats are idle.

I think the new rules are fair enough, I've always been amazed how much people can get away with here compared to other boards.

Flames have been spilling over into other forums far too much recently, and its time it came to an end.

So its gets a thumbs up verdict from me for what its worth.

I agree with supernaut,there are places to flame if you so wish to but this is meant to be a friendly site with people who all enjoy playing the neo geo {supposedly}yet so many people swear on the posts or insult another just to look cool,sure theres freedom of speech but theres also a word called respect,and when an innocent member says something of contribution to end up being insulted and called an asswipe and so on then there is no need for that,i am sure if many of these people met the people they insult here they would not be so mouthy,i dont mind people flaimg if its in the right place,sometimes its even funny to read but there is a place for flames and if someone abuses that and ruins all the general threads then something should be done,after all 24 hours ban is no big deal really,its just a ....jees i cant be arsed to type anymore...lol
