*WARNING* - MVS CPO Repro Rip Offs!!!

I wanted to alert everyone to a couple of items that surface on eBay from time to time that I think are bad news. Both are Control Panel Overlay (CPO) reproductions from two different companies.

One is from a seller called: onthaedge@aol.com and they sell a kit with all the buttons and two joysticks for replacement on a MVS machine. So far, so good. They also include a "replacement overlay" which has no holes cut and is basically a blank. This would be great, except that the overlay is just an inkjet print that has been laminated I bought one a long while ago, and I sent it back because I thought the quality was horrible. Now, having said that, you might be very pleased with how it looks, but I can tell you I was not. I would rate it a 2 out of 10.

The second is from a seller called: pinsetc . Pinsetc is also known as arcadegrafix out of Florida, and have recently changed thein name to "PC Amusements". They sell alot of repro arcade art including the MVS conversion overlay and some kind of marquee sticker. I bought $200 worth of repro artwork from them for my Donkey Kong and Centipede, and I sent every bit back. Once again, cheap Inkjet repros. It took quite a while to get my refund, and these guys have a poor history in the arcade world. Do a Google groups search for "arcadegrafix" and see what you come up with. Now to be fair, I have not seen one of the MVS overlays from them but past history and other reviews tells me that the quality will be sub-par.

Once again, this is just my opinion, but I wanted to get it out there so others don't get burned. I also realize that a minty CPO is an extremely hard thing to come by, but the inkjet repros are a long way from the silkscreened originals.

Thanks for the heads-up, Briggs. I will definitely drag all the details out of the sellers before buying any more restoration stuff for my projects.
