Seriously, I'm glad SNK is dead....

Finally we can end this ridiculous Neo legend.....

SNK becomes a part of history in video game industry ......

No doubt that SNK has developed several top notch fighting and 2D action games, and now SNK can rest in peace....

We'll not see any more Neo rumors or some BS about Neo titles. No more ridiculous game price anymore......

Neo price will back to a normal, reasonable self value

People might ask what about PC Engine/Saturn titles? We still see Dracula X, Battle Garegga, and some titles in crazy prices on Ebay....

Well, for some titles, yes.
But at least majority of Neo games will be in reasonable prices.....

No more "Neo God", "Exclusive Distributor" or anything......

I'm tired of people using Neo games as investment......that's stupid.

Neo is part of our memory in video game world

Amen....

i kinda agree but for a simple reason

the majority of SNK people LEFT before kof 2000 was finished

i gotta repeat this once again

kof 2001 aint snk
sengoku 3 aint snk
nitd aint snk

zupapa is a sad try to milk a lucrative cow

but zupapa should have been released in 1994 or whatever

year 2001....

its just sad

aruze doesnt have the right to fuck up things like that

so snk was DEAD a full year ago

and no

i dont want garou 2 or slug 4 or nam 76

if theyre not from snk

its over,
let snk and its name rest in peace

PS
i am aching about kof 2001 tho

Alot of people are real bummed about the news, but SNKs demise doesn't alter all the amazing Neo games out there.

Just because they are no more does not tarnish their greatness.

There are still around 80 or so Neo carts out there I don't have, so my Neo's gonna be humming for years- SNK or no SNK.

No Garou:MOTW 2 or Metal Slug 4? Sad, but if SNK had some whacked-out 3rd party hacks develop those titles, wouldn't it be, in a way, worse?

BTW- cart prices will not be affected, if anything they could go UP.

You're underestimating the situation, Liquid. I believe the total opposite of this.

You see, the Neo God will be responisble for keeping the Neo-Geo alive long after SNK's demise, not during. The fun is just starting...

Y'know man, I agree with you... All this talk year after year about a "new" King of Fighters with 4 new characters and new backgrounds has gotten kind of old.

SNK has made the longest surviving console in videogame history. In today's fickle market and low attention span gamers, no console will ever be able to match that. SNK gave us Mark of the Wolves and Metal Slug 3, two of the best ways any system can go out. It should just be left at that.

I seriously don't think KOF 2001 should be released. I'm not the hugest KOF fan, but look at it. What a lousy way for a system to go out. 4 new characters, same old gameplay. Look at Metal Slug 3. That's the most monumental and historic feeling game I've probably ever played. That would have been how I would have wanted my console to end, not on some silly rehash that players look forward to year in and year out for some reason.

Yes, I'm glad the whole "Exclusive Distributor" problem is now being solved as well. But, I fear that this can only make the prices skyrocket, at least for the home market. The MVS market will probably plummet as arcade dealers dump off their cabinets, but I feel the home market will rise when people try and "get in on the action" to pretend like they were there since day one... Those people will pay the most, it happens when any cult system dies.

I can't really think of anything else to say except that I'm glad for what SNK has given me for the past 10 years of my life. Playing that MVS machine at Ft. Meade with my grandfather will always be a fond memory, but it has to end somewhere. I think SNK could have bailed out of the MVS hardware a la Sega and really made something of themselves as a 3rd party developer, but it's a little late for that now.

I can't really think of much else to say about this topic. It's a fairly sad topic, but we all knew it was going to happen some day. It had to end, but we're all extremely lucky to have gotten what we did these past years.

I'd be honored, Fran. However, I had to re-install ICQ after a system crash, so you were lost from my contact list.

IMO this will seperate the true from the false.
We all have supported SNK, the ones who stick it out even after the death (IE: still buy games and what not) have my hat off.
I will be one of them, hell for YEARS to come.

For what its worth it's not about the games being made now by SNK it's about games being made for the SNK system.

need I remind people most SNK games ported over to other systems have at this point sucked!

If these new developers will support the Neo systems expecially the AES then all is well. However without SNK to remind the developers that the AES system games are still in demand we may never see any of them port there agames over to homeart or even MVS for that matter!

NeoLord, I don't think the price will go skyhigh....

It might go up for a short period of time and then drop down and back to the normal......

We'll see in our own eyes......

Rest in peace, SNK

That's one of the advantages video game systems have over pets:
Properly treated,they will live 'forever'...

I'll keep my neo and play it for a LONG time...

Just be careful if you let your children or grandchildren play with it !

I can almost be they will go up. During the last few months, Neo prices were actually dropping because of the slight resurgance of SNK. A title that was costing say $120 a couple of months ago has been going for say $80.

Now I expect everything to become more sought after which is anything but good for prices.

I firmly believe the prices will go up. Mainly due to the collectors and the fact that SNK is no more.

Oh-yes...Forgot Sammys VIEWPOINT! (OK-this one's REALLY an exeption!)

Sadly, you are right about the jpn developers

I just wanted to state that there were some great non-SNK games on the NEO.
Like Data Easts Windjammers,too.

And anybody doing something on the Neo has my respect-Especially now!
If the finished product earns the same respect-that's another matter....

uhh... we don't need to hear about your sick fetishes here

Seriously, though, I'll probably wind up playing KOF2k1 and even, God forbid, enjoy it. I wouldn't go so far as to say "If it's not SNK, it's shit." I mean, WW7 came out from Sunsoft, I think somebody else did Shock Troopers, Nazca did at least one of the Metal Slug games, and Technos did one of the best versions of Super Dodge Ball. (Dodgeball, the true sport of kings--especially the EMfH rules*)

*EMfH = Every Man for Himself.

So, my two cents are, I'll take a wait and see additude on KOF2k1 and however SNK might be.

To me, SNK died when they closed their U.S. and European branches in June of last year (keep in mind that I knew about this LONG before I discovered neo-geo.com, or heard that they were still making games in Japan, or that there was such a thing as King of Fighters 2000). Somehow, I knew it was only going to be a matter of time before the plug was pulled on their life support.

Personally, I have mixed feelings toward the death of SNK. I'm sad because they won't be making any more games (no more artwork by Shinkirou [the guy who did the photo-realistic illustrations for countless Neo-Geo games]?! How ever shall I survive?). On the other hand, though, I'm glad because they at least left their mark on the video game world (in this day and age, 12 years of life for a video game console is unheard of), and didn't go out with a whimper.

Farewell, SNK.

All in a hurried mouthful:

LS -I agree with much of what you say, and thought of the same things on my own.

I think it's more "today's" non-SNK Neo games that get the "if it's not snk, fuck it" treatment mentioned. Am I right? Forget Yumekobo, ADK, Nazca, etc., because they're all dead already anyway -nothing still to be considered.

And, I figured, this will measure how much of a fan you really are. What happens to you after the final breath has been breathed on the system. One day it had to happen, now it has, so what were you truly in it for?

Really gotta go

Well,i disagree...Longest video game system "in activity" is PC Engine...1986-1999

Neo Geo hadn't beat it
