Third Strike has the suicide battery, all CPS-3 games do.

Capcom vs. SNK 2 would be a no, Naomi Carts don't commit suicide, their just like MVS carts.

Also I think Capcom vs. SNK 2 uses the new GD-Rom Naomi setup, so the game is on CD+Cart combo I think.

AFAIK, there' s no suicide battery on CP System-III boards (SF3, JoJo and Warzard hardware).

You can't battery swap on CPS-3.

And to be fair arcade boards aren't made for home collecting

You gotta admit the security battery foiled piracy pretty good, capcom did it cause the first SF 2 boards were pirated a ton back in their day.

I'm surprised we still call 'em suicide batteries.

Wouldn't the Politically Correct term be:

Euthanizedenabled Power Distribution Cells?

Yes.I remember back in 92' MAS was selling a pirated SF board for $1000 and the original for $1500 :>
I'm not a fan of CD systems sooo I guess I will have to experiment with swap method on CPS-2.I'm sure better methods will come about to preserve these boards. At least Capcom vs SNK 2 won't have this problem.

Looks I have to do some research.

The CPS-2 Shock site was looking into the problem before they shut down. I've seen the procedure to change the battery floating around on the internet, along with the disclaimers "we are not responsible, and if you make a single mistake your board is toast." I also hear that Capcom will do this for a price, but I'm not sure if that's still true or what the price is.

I'm running the CPS2 boards SSF2T, XvsSF, AvsP, and both D&D's, but haven't had a battery die on me yet.

Last I heard it was a flat fee of $75. Probably changed by now, but instead of worry about CPS2 death I sold Alien vs Predator That game rocked.

GerKen, you sold alien vs predator because of the battery, you could have easily change it. I have alien vs predator and have have successfully changed the battery on it with no problems. That a pretty respected and sought after game. It still is a good game. I wished somebody out there with a copy of Dungeons and Dragons 2 felted the same as you.

Thx for the link, chimp, I'm sure I'll need that site someday.

D&D2 is a plain bitch to find, I was looking for about 6 months for mine before I found a guy in Australia who had a Euro version. Since then I've seen it a few times on E-bay.

i got one i can sell, with the US A board even, the CMOS lithium batteries were juz changed and its good for another 3-5 yrs...but..well the D&D 2 Shadow Over Mystara i got is JPN tho (green)... i juz don't necessarily need these D&D CPS2 boards i got coz i already own the "holy grail" of a PCB and that is a SEGA32 PCB Golden Axe 2 the Revenge of Death Adder, yay! i do however, wanna get AvsP CPS2 tho...

evasyar: if possible I would prefer the blue version working but as long as its hasn't been opened (seals intact, etc) I take a dead blue one. I also setlle for a WORKING green version.
