I was walking pass the local video rental store, a place I use to play competitive Samurai Showdown, KOFs. But its has been years and nobody goes there anymore, I haven't since either.

Much to my surprise, I saw atleast 5-8 guys playing KOF, I guess KOF 2001 draws alot of attention. And WoW, They are awsome players, I waited my turn to challenge the winner.

I played the best guy there, He was chaining combos like a madman. What A RUSH, I have not had this kind of RUSH for YEARS.

I Could not pull out any special moves as it was difficult for me using the arcade stick, instead of the home neo stick. Plus I got used to playing the computer AI,
But I just used fundamental punch, kick and simple special moves, I was able to beat him. They were so surprised a newbie coming from nowhere, beating one of their best. Ofcouse he challenged me one more time and kicked my ass, since the element of surprise was gone.

I was wondering if anybody here plays KOF in the arcade, and find this kind of RUSH. It has Renewed my NEO interest, and I have been playing my Neo more than ever.

I haven't experienced that in a LONG time, but I know exactly what you're talking about. Just reading that post reminded me of how exciting it was being a kid and going to the arcade, even though I always got my ass beat by gaming masters.

It would be great to experience that again, but unfortunately there are no decent arcades (that I know of) in the Philly area... I'd really love to go to a big Neo tournament sometime...

Come to think of it, I haven't even SEEN a Neo Geo cabinet in this area in years...ah well...

eh...what....arcade...rush..????
Seriously, yes I do. I miss it dearly.
Arcade's out where i live though just don't do the buisness they used to so...almost none left. The ones that DO exist are really kinda blah. No real new games, ESPECIALLY something like KOF 2001 or Mark of Wolves.
I tell you, I've met and befriended some pretty intresting people when slammin those quarters on the screen waiting to kiss someones butt...or be kicked.
Definitaly miss that sh*t. :(

I had a good time playing Samurai Showdown the other day. HOPEFULLY I can get to Showboat and find some real players.

Good old times. Waiting in line. People gawking at a good match. A crowd screaming when someone finishes someone off with a super. That type of arcade atmosphere has been dead for years. I wish I could go back in time. No one ever plays fighting games in the arcade any longer, I alwasy have to play the CPU. I want a challenge, no , I need a challenge. I think that is one the things I miss about the 90's the most.Good times indeed.

Yeah, recently I got kind of that same feeling, playing the same game. Oddly enough the arcade scene is still booming up here but I find it hard to get in good KoF matches since it's hard to find the game outside the Chinese arcades, where I don't often find myself.

I got badly mangled by someone with all 4 Ikari Warriors last time, although sometimes I pull off these crazy victories over people. Sadly not too often, as you don't understand how good at KoF all these Hong Kong boys are, but anyway, it's still really damn fun.

Most of the time though I now get that feeling playing Third Strike. There are days when we can have 10 people around one of the machines, and a few people around the other one next to it (we have a good number of regulars). All non-stop vs competition. It's really amazing, which is why I was spending up to $30 or $40 a week there. It's totally worth it.

If you want to experience true NEO at its best, you gotta play a cab in a arcade with a bunch of KOF Freaks.

And the fight climax when your down to your last guy, with no more energy , no more strikers, no more Supers. Theres no feeling like it.

Neobomberman: your right about about one thing, those Asian people are mad at KOF, all the people were playing are mostly asian.
The people playing at my local video store is few of the best I ve seen.

Fran: you don't always have to be sarcastic.
All the crazy combo are all for show, If you know the fundamentals , you can beat anybody without any chaining combos. Simple 3 hit combo is more than efficent.
And I am no push-over either, I use to be really good.

How can it be fact, if you didn't see the match,

you have to understand, he was coming at
me with a champion's mentality.
Attacking me like I was a newbie, being very aggressive. All I had to do , is wait and counter attack at the right moment. A skillful player can always win against a overconfident player.
Like I said, Second time around, he played a much smarter game, and beaten me.

EDIT:Expert KOF players versing against each other, can win or lose at any given time.

ahh good times indeed,

There use to be a great cab, where I live, now its gone. =(
I was more in to Samurai Showdowns in the arcade, Its So intense because, everytime you slice your opponent its unpredicable how much life he loses, sometimes, 2 good slices, and the guy is dead. And their jaw drop to the floor. lol
