Im opening a arcade soon and want to make the neo titles a major piece of the puzzle of things im trying to accomplish.

Basiclly trying to secure titles I think would be a good draw.

One title that came to my mind is

Rage of the Dragons

1. I think this would be a good draw but I am curious when is the MVS cart coming out?

2. What do you think the estimated cost of it would be?

Finally Im curious about Crystal of the Kings it looks really nice just curious how it did in some arcades?

Hey Good Question on the Rage of the Dragons it had a Debut date of 4/25/02 in Japan game centers. Info from a fella a chat with in Japan. The price I would estimate would be the same when KOF2001 came out for MVS around $699-800 for the kit thats about how much I paid for mine. Hey also best wishes on the openning of your arcade we need a good arcade here in the 808 state :)

I know nothing for certain, but I like some good hear-say as much as the next fella so:

I've also heard that it's out in Japan already, I don't know if I completely buy that because it's being developed in Latin America, so they'd probably release it to the US test-bed (whever it was, Sunnyvale CA or something) sooner than a Japanese release.

It's totally possible though, I really don't know for certain but I have heard that rumor.

Again, not from personal experience but what I hear CoK didn't do 'well', as in a ground breaking game...in fact it was supposed to be pretty mild, but if you're showcasing SNK games you really should have a Crystal System cab, maybe with Evolution Soccer in it, I've heard mixed reviews about Evo but the general consensus is it is better than CoK.

Good draw games I'd reckomend:

KoF's, having a dedicated 4 or 6 slot KOF cab is not a bad idea in the slightest, whether or not they'd get as much play (really, except for true fans few people will play KoF '99 when KoF '01 is there...just the average gamer on the street will take the newest incarnation, figuring it's the best).

Metal Slugs, particularly X and 3 will definately draw well.

Bust-A-Move/Puzzle Bobble, Bust-A-Move Again, believe it or not this game will generate cash very nicely.

Honestly, if you're going to showcase a Neo•Geo be very sure to point out how new the games you have are, as most of my friends know the name Neo•Geo and are shocked when I show them games that were made in 2000.

I Have to 100% agree with Blaine on the selection of games that draw people to game centers

KOF2001 is a crowd bringer for the current time.
Metal Slug Series Yes I see everyone playing it here in Honolulu.
Honest to goodness
Bust-A-Move/Puzzle Bobble, Bust-A-Move Again

I remember seeing these games at Kaimuki Cue and all the local bowling alleys on Oahu in the past and present people are always playing those games. I am a sucker for Tengen Tetris in the game centers been playing that for 10+years already.
:p

About Rage of the Dragons. The game looks nutzs! but it kinda looks like in my opinion a game that will come and go in a short while. well thats just my 2 cents.

I have opened an arcade route near home and have purchased two MVS 25" cabinets with four slots each. The games I chose to place are:

Machine 1:

Metal Slug 3
Garou: MOTW
Blazing Star
Super Sidekicks 3

Machine 2:

Magical Drop 3
Neo Turf Masters
Twinkle Star Sprites
KOF 2001

This is my config. for my cabinets.
I hope they attract people to play!

TO SEAN:

Below is basiclly what were trying to do with the arcade and basiclly the key titles we plan to have and run.

I like to take the time to announce something that some of you already know and some may not know. For the last month or so I been working with a financial partner in securing the capital and start up funds needed to start a business. Well today I like to let all the players know that the business I am trying to start is an ARCADE.

WE OPEN JUNE 1st

LOCATED next to PILL BOX in wailae avenue.
Next to Yoga Therapy.

As for the arcade this is some of things were trying to do and accomplish with it.

1. Carry all the latest Capcom fighting games and popular titles.
2. We will use big screen CVS2 and MVC2 cabinets and have convex buttons and perfect controls.
3. To offer the gamer a comfortable environment and a friendly place.
4. Carry older Vintage titles such as the original Sf2, Simpson’s, Xmen, Pac Man, classic fighters like ALPHA 2, Xmen vs. SF etc, etc.
5. Have chairs and air conditioning and a clean bathroom for all our players.
6. Run weekly or bi weekly tournaments for our players.
7. Have a TV set up in the arcade for players to bring home consoles and DVDs to watch or play.
8. Cheap flat fee for gamers and comfortable hours.

Basically the goal of the arcade is to cater mostly to the hardcore gamers and Street Fighter and Marvel based players. We plan to do lots of cool promotions etc, etc. We got a hold of a DDR 7th mix and plan to run it.

Our pricing plans look to be this.

Sun-Mon-Tues-Wend-Thurs= $5 dollar cover charge for the whole day all games in the arcade on free play.

Fri-Sat= $10 dollar cover charge all games are on free play the entire full day.

Weekly= $30 dollars for the entire week. Sun-Fri

Monthly= $100 dollars for an entire month of free play.

So roughly speaking if you know you go to the arcades a lot the monthly would be the cheapest option saving you a lot of money in the long term of the month. The weekly would be good if u know you can only go on certain weeks. And daily if your only free on Fri and Saturdays or other days during the week.

We plan to run around 4 big screens or 5 depending on the space we have and 3 smaller cabinets.

We have been buying up boards like Simpson’s, Punisher, Aliens vs. Predator, NBA Jam, Metal Slugs, Pocket Fighters, Gem Fighter, and Magic Drop.

Also fighters like Killer Instinct 1, 2, Mortal Kombat 1,2,3,4. Xmen vs. SF, Marvel Super Heroes, Primal Rage, Alpha 1, 2, 3. Dark stalkers 1, 3, King of fighters 98. Samurai Showdown 1,2,3,4.

Also the very popular Street Fighter 3 Third Strike.

The marquee games will be Capcom vs. Snk 2, Marvel vs. Capcom 2, King of Fighters 2001 and Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo and Metal Slugs 4.

We will use the remaining spare cabinets and alternate games in them on player’s request.

The arcade hours will be 10 am till 12 am daily but…. If players are willing to stay later I will close when folks are done with there games.

Basiclly the other games we are in the last minute hunt for are below.

CAPCPOM CPS 1 BOARDS
---------------------

The Punisher
Saturday Night Slam Masters

MISC VIDEO GAME PCB
----------------------
Dragon Ball Z
Dragon Ball Z 2
Sunset Riders
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - Turtles In Time
The Simpsons

I'LL be there to check out the place! great to hear its opening up in Kaimuki! You can't believe how many people I have heard said it sucked when Kaimuki Cue closed up almost 4 years ago. It wasn't the cleanest place on Earth but it had the new and cool games always there. You have a great concept and hope to see it stay permanetly! :D
My biz office is right up the street from where the Pillbox is on Kokohead.
Thanks again for the info! I'll let all my friends know!

BTW: is smoking gonna be allowed? due to I remembered thats what damaged alot of machine controls at Kaimuki cue and when Kahala bowling alley used to allow smoking in the early nineties . People would put cigarettes on the machine and it would burn the controls Even though an ashtray was right in their face next to the machine. just an opinion to help preserve your game center.

Speaking of which,

Hey don't forget, a few pool tables, air hockey, and skee ball always bring in the cash.... Plus Redemption always brings in boat loads. :) I wish your new business luck! i wish I could go, maybe whenever I can get over to Hawaii,

I'll be there for sure. I'll just bring you the games I promised instead of ship them.

It's surely tough to stay in an arcade when you have all those sun bathing beauties outside though.
