What is everyone's opinion of the 'Best looking/most beautiful game of all time' 2D OR 3D?

Any type of game, any system, home or arcade.

I'll state my opinion a little later.

Best looking? That’s easy. Both of them are only imports right now, but they are on their way over here.

3D: Final Fantasy X (PS2)
2D: Guilty Gear X (DC)

OK, so far we have:

Best 2D: One vote each for: MvsC2, MS 3 and X, and Guilty Gear X.

Best 3D: One vote each for: Final Fantasy X, and 2 votes for: Soul Calibur

We need more!

Hey:

3D, I would have to say Jet Set/Grind Radio. Absoulutley amazing. Shenmue and SoulCalibur are close runner-ups. Notice that all three of those games are on the almighty Dreamcast?

2D, here you have a problem. It really depends on if you're looking for outstanding animation or just great graphics overall. Animation-wise, probably Street Fighter 3 3rd Strike or Metal Slug 3. Overall, I have to say that Donkey Kong Country looks great even today...

2d: guilty gear x
3d: virtual on: oratori tangram (dc) the game may not push a hell of alot of polygons, but damn this is one fine looking game. very high-res textures, virtually no alias, constant 60fps, effects galore. i love this game

I would have to say:

3D: Shenmue, with Soul Calibur in a close second, along with Grandia 2

2D: A Three Way Tie Between Garou: Mark of the Wolves, Last Blade 2 and Guilty Gear X.

Soul Calibur? It looks awesome, but seriously. DOA2 on DC surpassed it in graphical terms. But I'm surprized I"m the only one who thinks FFX is the best looking 3D game out there. Not even MGS2 looks better (close, but no cigar). I mean, we are talking FF FMV done in real time graphics. Oh well, it is all based on opinion, beauty is subjective more than anything else. Unless of course you're talking about Salma Hayek, if you don't think that's pretty you are 1 of 3 things:
A unich
Dead
A flaming homo

Well, Bravo! to all you guys who said any of the games in the Metal Slug series!

My choice for best visuals OF ALL TIME is a tie between Slug X and 3.

I do have one question for some of you, though:

Did any of you that picked non-Neo Geo games for best 2D actually OWN a Neo Geo Home cart or MVS system?

Please let me know.

I have a theory brewing, Dreamcast owners.

I have seen Soul Calibur, but from my experience, Resident Evil: Code Veronica has been the most visually impressive game I have played, especially on VGA. Amazing.

I own 2 NeoGeo Home Systems (US/Jap), 2 MVS (1-Slot/4-Slot) and a small but fine collection of Home Carts (Metal Slug 1-3+X, All King of Fighters, Garou etc.).
But I still think that Dracula X for PS has very beautiful 2D graphics. Both in style and technical aspect.
I also considered the Metal Slug Series, but I decided for Dracula X. Though it was a very difficult decision.
(Sorry SNK! I will do penance for this at my
NeoGeo shrine.) <IMG SRC="smilies/crying.gif" border="0">
