Ok boys and girls listen up and listen well:
I believe we should show SNK/Brezza/Playmore/whoever what we think they should do in order to survive.
I believe that now is the time for them to switch development over to a new system and regain a substantial share of the 2D fighting market.
My points:
1.) As sweet and as beautiful as the MVS is (I still get amazed at watching the SDM animation of KOF98) I think that to get more mainstream people (ie. Money) in SNK's pocket they should switch just like capcom did to Naomi or some other reasonable platform. This would allow them to upgrade the graphics (no need for 3D! This point must be made!), and the sounds of the new game thus making it more attractive to the casual arcade player/gamer.
2.) It would also allow for easy porting to home consoles. This is also very important because the arcade scene isn't what it used to be and the most money is made in the MAINSTREAM home market (this means PS2, XBox, GC, and DC, NOT THE AES).
3.) With Capcom on a self imposed 2D fighter hiatus then there will be quite a big hole to be filled in the 2D fighter genre and w/ the above improvements SNK would be able to capture a large share of the market.
I know a lot of people here hate this idea but its what will make the company survive. I'm going to write an email to Playmore, Brezza, and SNK NEO GEO about this and I'd appreciate it if you all did the same.
Peace
JHendrix
