When my friends and I come together for some gaming we usually choose my place; they bring the food, I supply the consoles and games.

If speech turns to to console comparisons, most of my friends tell me that they have never seen such a funny and smooth game like MS3, but as soon as I pop in some fighting game they start to whine about "ancient graphix" or "retro-shit", no matter how great the game actually is (MotW, KoF...). It's not that they'd be bad at them, some tend to fight really good, but, well...

...and if I tell them that I've payed lotsa $$$ for, say, LB2 or KoF2k, they look at me like they would call an ambulance in a couple of mins...

What are your experiences?

I only let a select few view my collection, so anyone who would think I'm nuts never gets to see it.

Tell your friends that you're saving $1600 for Metal Slug AES ("WTF is Metal Slug", they might ask)

Or tell them that "16-bit/24-bit" console will live forever~~~ ("Huh? That ancient piece of shit?", they might ask again)

LOL At least my friends are a little more polite than the wife, who usually refers to me as a, quote, "retarded pixel moron" anytime I come up with one of my infamous eBay opportunities...

Next time they will be put in front of my only arcade pcb, Wonder Boy. If they can't make it to the end with one round of credits, I'll force them to play World Heroes til they appreciate the beauty and playability of SS, KoF or LB!

I NEVER tell them. They wouldn't believe me anyways...and if they did, they'd probably try to kill me.

That's look at this way:

$1600 for Metal Slug AES or $2000 for Kizuna....

We can spend that $1600-$2000 for Xbox bundle, Gamecube bundle, prograssive DVD player, and other stuff.......

Dang......

My friends who have come around too see and play my neo games fist look at the cart at say jesus is that just the cart, its massive, that makes me smile with pride, they especially love the graphics,I do try to show off to them though in the fact I tell them you know the original streetfighter 2 on the super nes that was 16 megs well this game is over 600 megs so each character alone has more than the whole of the streetfighter 2 game had all together, they are impressed, the downside though is none of them have ever heard of the neogeo but as long as I know it exists, and everyone in the forums, thats all that counts

Well most of my friends are confused and keep asking me to "update" my systems. HA!! NEVER!(maybe a DC). I have a Saturn and spread money on getting hard to find Japanese games. They're like "get a PS or PS2! Get a GBA!!" Im like, fuck outta here! I like my sys. and games! If I feel like buying another sys, i will. Until then, see ya!

When my friends come round Samurai Shodown 2 or Art of Fighting 3 usual ends up on my MVS.

Recently Buriki One on my HyperNeo 64 has been making an appearence too, as well as a two player game of THE PUNISHER on my cabinet.

Then its down to the saturn for SFZ3 and MSH vs. SF or the Dreamcast with some Fighting Vipers 2, Capcom vs SNK 2 or Virtua Fighter 3.

I haven't told too many people that I finally own a Neo Geo. I only told one guy and he didn't reall give a shit. My old man got on my case since he felt that I was throwing away my money on an "outdated system"...but it's OK for him to spend shitloads to build up his state quarter collection.
Most of the people I talk to probably have never heard of the Neo Geo, so they wouldn't have a clue on what I was talking about. The few people that know what it is, don't know that I own one.
As for game prices, I keep that confidential, but I let them know that you can get the classic titles (from 91-95) for reasonable prices.

We can't speak about the real price of the games we have. They do not understand that your so crazy to spend money for those archaïc games. However, they are interested when you switch on the system. They play MOTW or LB2...
But the must for fun is when I put League Bowling in the system. That's terrificccc !
And you, guys ? What is the best effect you can create with which one of the games you own ?

As you can see, I play a lot of 16-bit games lately (Genesis, Mega CD, Neo, Supergrafx).

I always go to friends' houses to play video games and they'll laugh at me when they hear I still play Genesis (most of them thought that's what I have)

The funny thing is when they come to my apt and first thing they see are Neo, Genesis and Mega CD. They just laugh at me by saying "What is that big ugly black box (Neo Geo)? Genesis? C'mon man...have you ever heard of DC and PS2, my friend? hahahhahaha.....".

Then all I have to do is to point my finger to DC, PS, and PS2 which they are at the corner of my living room.......

For me, there's no greater reply than hearing my friends say "WOW! I remember this game!", and then watching them play Samurai Shodown I (or II) for a long time. A few of my friends are big retro-videogamers and will play anything on any system (ranging from the Atari 2600, to the Super NES, to the Neo-Geo, all the way up to PS2).

I must have influence on my friends, cuz I've converted 2 of them into buying Neos. 1 more may be buying one soon too when he finally graduates college.

Most of my friends already know about Neo, and are familar with it and its price, so it's no big deal to us.

Then again, my friends and I aren't exactly what most people would call pro-quo gamers. Most of my friends tend to be hardcore gamers with multiple systems.

I do have one friend that isn't into games that much, but he hasn't seen my Neo, and wouldn't really care.

I borrowed my Neo out to a friend once when I went on a trip, and he really got into Samurai II.

Most of my friends think I'm insane to spend as much as I do on games, lots of them wouldn't know what a Neo is (or care either, probably.. )

On the other hand, there's a small group of my friends who are really into all kinds of games, especially the Neo and other "older" stuff. Most of us meet up at least once a week, play KoF/Last Blade/Metal Slug and a ton of Saturn/PC-Engine shooters. No-one else has got a Neo yet, but at least they're buying SNK stuff for their DC's
