Hey guys,

Was playing Nightmare in the Dark tonight and found a neat little trick by accident... then I spent about 30mins fully exploring every combo of it (I need to really write a faq on this game, I have found a ton of things out)...

Pick Character Color:

At the begining of the game, or at the continue screen hold the buttons and press the start button to choose the specific color.

A = Blue
B = Red
C = Green
D = Yellow
AB = Grey
CD = Purple
AC = Orange
BD = Black

Some of these colors are just incredibly cool looking... works for both first and second player.

Some other things to try:

Shot the treasure chests with fire, they will churn out lots and lots of diamonds until they disseapear.

As long as you don't get hit, the diamonds will continue to go up in value... until they finally reach 100,000 each. Grabbing the sacks will add multipliers (2X, 4X, up to 8X) that will further increase your score.

There are many cracks in the wood/stone of most levels... some of these will give in to a fireball... making your shot fly all over the board... experiment throwing at different angles to find these hidden spots, most will clear the entire board as the ball flings out of control.

Lots more, but I will save them for the faq

Hate to say it, but I discovered this a while back too I just completely forgot to post about it... since actual gameplay topics about non-fighters seem to get ignored a lot...

Mostly just the 1000 ones, but sometimes the "medium-size" ones come out.

Don't you mean 10,000?

Yeah, I did beat it on one credit... man that was a bitch... I hate that level 3 boss... nad the last boss can be a pain too. Man I felt accomplished though

You get Zupapa yet... I like that game a lot more than NITD. It just feels so much more refined, and the game is just a blast... I recommend it if you like NITD.

as Herzog noted, I didn't REALLY steal your thunder... in all honesty, when I discovered the trick I was going to post to ask if anyone could come up with a list of all the color combinations that could be found... but I forgot. No, really.

I say this because I don't own the game... an arcade around here got it and that's where I play it. Dunno if they're gonna get Zupapa and I'm not shelling out the dough for that until (if?) it comes down in price...

Oh, and you have any words of wisdom for the 3-5 boss? I cant find any 'safety zones', ya know? Theres no pattern to the swooping of the gargoyles.....

Sure Lee, I'd be happy if you put it in your review.

My best advice for the level 3 boss... just run like crazy... hehe, it helps to have fire up and move up on that board, and keeping it might be hard but I think it is essential. I usually stand on the bottom where the ground raises a little... From there you can dodge then jump up and throw a fire ball. I have to say I think the Level 3 boss is the hardest by far! Haha that level 4 boss is a joke after that... and the final boss has easy to deal with patterns (even though the baddies can be a pain).
