Being a neo geo fan,I automatically asume that everyone here is a beat em up fan,but thats not entirely true as there are plenty of sports neo fans out there too, what I want to know is who likes sports games and why and who likes beat em ups and why and also how many like them both.I myself do not play sports games but I love beat em ups,

I love both. But for fighting games, the neogeo cant be beaten IMHO. It does alright with sports games, especially Neo Turf Masters, Street Hoops and whatever. but generally I can find much better alternatives on the newer consoles. Like ISS on the PS2.

I really liked Mutant League Hockey and NHLPA 93 on the SEGA.

My DC is constantly switching between

Capcom VS. SNK Pro (and 2 occasionally)
and
NCAA 2k2

Heck, tommorrow I'm going to go see USC versus Arizona State at the Coliseum.

Mainly it's just fighting games (and shooters ), but I also like a game of Baseball stars (1 or 2) and 2020 Super Baseball from time to time.
League Bowling and Windjammers are quite fun in 2P mode too.

And tomorrow I will keep my fingers crossed hoping that USC loses.

Go Bruins!

Anyways, I've always been a fan of football, hockey, and soccer games.

And I also like beat em ups.

But then again...I used to play a lot of hockey games with friends way back with the 93 version or something like that and take out the goalies. Then, when someone scores a goal you check the guy who scored and start a fight almost every time.

Good times.

So to summarize this post, I like hockey games where you beat people up.

ucla?

Bah, the only good Bruins come from Boston.

You're a Bruin for four years (or, a lot of times, five), but your a Trojan for life.

I have better, but they're a little inapropriate for this forum. However, I will be at the Coliseum at the end of the season when we flog fucla for another year.

Say it LOUD, say it proud:

I love beat-em-ups, like Robo Army, Streets of Rage 2, Double Dragon, etc. The only gripe I have with em is the occasional lack of replay value, a problem which I still have with Golden Axe. I played it to bits and pieces on Genesis when it came out, and now I'm bored after the first level.

And sport games... hm, guess I didn't spend too much time with sport-sims so far. I'm more into future kind of sports stuff, like Speed Ball, Soccer Brawl, or games like Windjammers, one of my favs.

I prefer the one-on-one fighting and side scrolling "beat 'em up" games myself, although I can occasionally get into a sports title, if it's the right kind.

I like arcade style sports games - I hate most of the modern ones, in which you have to be some kind of bookie to keep track of the 1093875983483033493 stats on each and every player.

I just want something fun which I can pop into the console and play right off the bat.

Which is why I like the Neo style sports games.

As far as other consoles... I haven't picked up a sports title on any of those since the time of the Genesis.

I like both, I play street hoops, Baseball stars 2, football frenzy, and neo turfmasters once in a while (BBS2 and Turfmasters the most.) All the neo needed was a hockey game and all the sports would have been covered. I think there are a lot of different genres that are offered by the neo besides the regular KOF, FF and SS.

Sports games are okay.. as long as they're

-Pseudo sports (games with made up rules like rollerball or something aka Super Dodge Ball)

-Non-licensed sports games (no annoying things like stats or famous names to get in the way of fun/arcade feel aka Baseball Stars)

Beat em ups absolutely rule the roost.

Now if they could come up with a beat em up sports game, that would be the shit.
