I just sent HitokiriBattosai the money for MOTW via paypal, and now I can't wait for that game to come in!! I have never even laid eyes on it, but from what I hear it's suppose to be a real gem!

Those of you who own it, is it worth the money??

Thanks

PS. The reviews are one thing, but i wanna hear from the ones who play this game on a daily basis

There are people who will tell you it's great, those who say it is good and those who say it's okay.

You'll find a lot of people who say RB2 is better, or it's a rip-off of SF3.

Fact of the matter is, I've never seen one person say it was a bad game.

The game rules, in my opinion, and is definately one of the coolest fight systems with what I consider a great line-up of characters design wise.

If there was one MVS cart I would buy...it would be MotW, I have it brand new and it's one of my prizes for the beautiful artwork both ingame and on the inserts and bevel stickers.

I think you'll enjoy it.

I got it ,I like it, I play it,But not as much as some of my other games and they are much older(sam shodown 2),it has great graphics and gameplay but its a little too short, worth the money hmmmm it is for the mvs as its pretty cheap but I would not pay $400 plus for the homecart .

MOTW is a fantastic game, but given the choice these days I'd advise people to just buy the Dreamcast import (or maybe the soon to be released domestic) copy. $50 vs. $500 is a big difference . . . and the DC port is outstanding!! Just ask Drift King EX, he wrote a great review of it . . .

Jumpsuit Jesse! What up, dawg! Long time no see.

Anyway, MotW is a great little game... probably a little overrated but it's fun. Keeps things simple and doesn't have ridiculous chain combos like the Real Bouts (although you can link multiple normal attacks by cancelling into fakes... it takes way more skill than a chain).

Never really gotten any Vs. play on it though

I already posted some thoughts on it in your other thread asking about the Fatal Fury games. Let me add that it's a pretty well-balanced game (I still can't think of a definite top tier) and the character designs are a good mix between old and new (Terry's the only returning old character, but the Kim brothers both have some stuff from Kaphwan, Hokutomaru has some of Andy's moves, and Rock is a hybrid of Terry and Geese).

And one HUGE thing I left out in my other post is the other fancy thing about the Garou engine...the TOP (Tactical Offensive Position, or something like that) system. How this works is, you set the beginning 1/3 of your lifebar, middle 1/3, or last 1/3 to be the "TOP" section. When your life reaches this section, you go into TOP Mode. This increases your attack power by 25% (I think), makes your life slowly regenerate until you get out of TOP Mode, AND gives your character an extra special move done by pressing C and D simultaneously. Tizoc is a good example of how much of a difference TOP Mode can make; his "TOP Attack" is a flying dropkick, which has slow startup but beats just about anything and is unpunishable. You HAVE to learn how to Just Defend that move, because 2 or 3 of them can Guard Crush you AND he recovers quickly enough to do his 360/720 throws while you're stunned.

And if it means anything to you, the game also has a very good story.

HitokiriBattosai is an excellent and honest seller. It was a real pleasure doing business with him.

Thanks for everyone's input!
