Hello everyone. I am still new to the Neo Geo world and trying to learn as much as I can about the games available.

I just got my Mini Neo Cabinet(Import)and I am LOVING it. It worked flawlessly with my 4slot board.

The only games I have now are Super Dodge Ball, and Samurai Shodown 2.

I just bought Puzzle Bobble from MDgamesales, and I am thinking about buying Garou MOTW and KOF 98.

My question is, will these Japanese games display full English text when I play them on my USA Board??

Also, are there any major differences between Bust a Move and Puzzle Bobble??

Garou MOTW Japanese Version vs Garou MOTW USA Version??

KOF98 japanese vs KOF98 USA??

Thanks for the help, honestly This Neo Geo stuff is really good!

So the only real differences between japanese and usa versions are the marquees, and extras then right?? If that's the case, I am gonna be one happy camper

Thanks for the reply..

Oh, one more thing. Does import vs domestic effect their value in the mvs market??

The 2 games I have now are complete English kits for SDB and SS2. If I get a Japanese MOTW, will it not be the same as the USA version??

Thanks again.

I have MOTW jap version and it is virtually the same as the us version ,all carts have the same extras whether its Jap or American, even the speech is the same as for instance the terry/geese intro scene, it says in an english voice, also the price is usually the same unless a game was releases in much less quantities in america then Japan, then its a bit more, why not check the price guide out on this site and you will see what I mean

Thanks Lee Gray!

Man, with all these deals I am finding on older games, I am gonna be broke very SOON!

Will swapping my carts in and out of my 4slot board cause problems down the line?? When I put the carts in my board they are pretty tight now, but will adding and removing games screw it up??

Also, would you suggest adding a cooling fan to the inside of my cabinet?? When I opened it, I noticed it was really hot in there.

Thanks

JC

I have been taking my carts out of just a 1 slot for months so I am taking them out more than I would if I had 4 carts on the go and its still as tight now,too tight in some respects as it was the day I got it,as for cooling the insides down, they dont do it in the arcades and the machines have worked fine for years,I use to leave my cabinet open myself till I got a super gun and it never overheated for me then its up to you though,There are some great deals on older games at the moment on the mvs even new ones are much cheaper than home carts,I bet you cant wait to get all those cool massive meg games Lee

Thanks for the tips and pointers.

What Fatal Fury Title would you recommend?? I went over to the reviews page on here and found all sorts of mixed reviews.

I want to get 1 or 2 titles from each series.

Like Samurai Shodown 2 and 4.
King of Fighters 98
Bust A Move and Bust A Move Again EX

But there are so many Fatal Fury games I dont know which to go with. I know MOTW is suppose to be a really good game. I plan on buying that one too. Would you have any suggestions??

Before this Neo fever I caught, I was a real Capcom junkie..buying all the CPS boards I could get. Now I got Neo crack fever

Any suggestions??

MVS is excellent as far as languages go, either the Japanese or English carts have the English language selectable in the menu. One thing about Garou though... even though the English language is available, the names of the some of the fighters are different between versions. Tizoc is something like "The Griffon" in the Japanese version, and Butt is "Marco".

For another Fatal Fury game, I recommend Real Bout 2. Get The Last Blade 2 as well if you can.

What about Real Bout Special?

People keep saying it is easy though...but since I suck at games I never had problems playing it. It was challenging enough.

But if you want a challenge apparently you should get Fatal Fury Special.

But I'm too scared to even try that.
Unless I'm mixed up and got the really hard game mixed up for the Fatal Fury series.

Just a quick pointer - the Japanese only games like the Quiz and Mahjong ones WON'T be in English, even on an English MVS. Other than that everything else will be.

Just thought I'd mention it so you don't get burnt... just depends on whether you'd actually WANT those games really, as most people probably wouldn't

I have a mix of English and Japanese MVS carts and because I have an English BIOS chip in my US motherboard, everything plays in English. My cart says Puzzle Bobble on the label but comes up as Bust-A-Move. You'll have no problems and lots of fun.

Hey, this is Jumpsuit Jesse, right? I didn't know you were a member here.

Anyway, if you wanna get a Fatal Fury game...seeing as how you're an old-schooler and all, Fatal Fury Special is THE game to get. The basic engine of it is just like Hyper Fighting, with Desperation Moves and line-switching (which could be a good or bad thing) added to it. The character count, even by today's standards, is decently-sized (16, plus Ryo who is a secret CPU challenger), and the game appears to be well-balanced (I couldn't say for sure, though).

Mark of the Wolves *is* very good. It's very simple considering it was made like 2 years ago; the only really fancy thing to learn in that game is the Just Defend (if you've played CvS2, it's done the same way here). The only major downside to the game is its extremely small cast; there are 10 characters plus 2 bosses, whom you have to enter codes to play as (don't worry, they're not even close to being overpowered). On the plus side, the small character cast does allow this game to have almost SF3-esque animation.

Sorry for the rant there. Hope it helped you some.

Yeah, I just joined the board not too long ago. I am a neo newbie

Once I get KOF 98, MOTW, and FF Special, I'll be set. No more Neo stuff for me. This stuff gets expensive
