To get conversions of unreleased carts,
or just get a Cab and get the MVS carts
that are not avaialable for the homecart
system?

As a cabinet owner myself, I would always say getting the arcade is always better. The only issue is space. If you have a nice NGH cart collection, you may want to stick with getting conversions. If you plan on getting a cabinet in the furutre, then start getting MVS carts. Sorry if I am not giving you a clear answer, I just feel that it is really preference based.

Yes I have the space to have at least two cabs.
I'm actually thinking about buying two cabs for
unreleased games, and for some other games, just
to have the feel of the cab at home...I will have
a complete Homecart collection regardless.

Sounds to me like you have already made up your mind. There is nothing like owning an actual cabinet to play NEO GEO games on. What kind of cabinet are you looking for, Candy or dedicated US red style?

One of each, I'm actually thinking of
buying a Candy Cab soon from arcade-inifinity...
I still don't know where I can get a Red style one.

I see that you are in the Bay Area. I am in Fremont, just 45min south of S.F. If you want, you should come see my cabinets and play them if you wish. Just a thought, I have two 25" candies with only 27 MVS carts. LMK

For awesome games like Drift-out or Zedblade...I'm getting a Phantom.

Conversions are nice looking...and more for collectors i guess. I've got a nice PI2 [arcade conversion] and i dont think i'd ever sell it...

If you've got the space I would definitely go with a full cab setup with a home bios installed. If space is an issue then I'd go with either a Supergun and a Phantom1. I have both a cab and a Phantom1 but prefer the cab for most games. In fact I may be selling off my homecarts soon and getting the MVS versions simply because they work in both systems (it doesn't hurt that they're cheaper either wink )

As far as conversions go I've never been crazy about them. I know there are people that do a great job with them like Jeff Kurtz but for me I'd prefer the real thing. If an original Metal Slug homecart costs $3000 then I would prefer to get the original MVS cart. Of course, I also consider myself about 90% gamer and 10% collector so your mileage may vary. :)

Well I am a collector/gamer, and I am a perfectionist and I don't think I would like to
have a conversion without a manual...or a homemade
one...

Sorry you are now off. I accidentaly added you to
it while looking at your profile.

I vote for a cab or Phantom. Conversions mean a real Neo cart has been destroyed, and that makes baby Jesus cry. crying

Yes I'm kinda having second thoughts about that...
I would probably buy a couple of !arcade!'s
conversions like Strikers 1945 plus, but he
doesn't have any in stock. frown

I value original over anything else, so I would have to say I'd rather have original MVS carts than conversion, no matter how nice the conversion may look. And besides, playing on a cab is damn cool wink .

I prefer a NGH setup myself as I like the stylized cases and such (collector at heart), but I have to agree with Galford, If I was going to play a game that was not available on the home system, I'll get it for MVS. There is just a neat feel when playing on a cab, expecialy when you know it was never actualy released on home.

I think I will end up just getting
the unreleased games in MVS format
with a cab...maybe some of the !arcade!
conversions as well. Thanks for all the suggestions

Sounds like you already made up your mind, but my advice is to get a cab.
I recently jumped in head first and got 2 cabs and I absolutely fucking love them. Everything I thought I would hate about a cab has not been a problem at all.
I've probably only put an hour on the home system since I got them. Maybe it's the "newness" but I'm actually preferring playing on the cabs.
The only problem now is I'm buying on both formats. I don't even wanna see next month's credit card statement oh_no
