I got a PCMCIA flash card adapter a while ago for my laptop. I also picked up a Lexar 8 megabyte flash card. It is the same pinout as the memory card. When I went to format it, it said write protected. Is there a brand of flash card that isn't write protected and would actually work in the Neo?

Although they may be hard to find any PCMCIA card labeled as an SRAM card should work in the Neo. I have seen Panasonic 2 Meg ones and I am sure they have been made in various other sizes by other companies.

Compact Flash are those little cards they sell at places like compusa. Many digital cameras use them. Apparently the one I got is write protected (according to the Neo Geo) but my PC can write files on it no problem.

Those panasonic 2 meg cards definately do work. Or was it 1 meg.

Check out accessories under neogeo on Nick the Furys site. <a href="http://nickthfury.cjb.net/" target="_blank">http://nickthfury.cjb.net/</a>

This is what I have

<a href="http://www.antec-inc.com/pro_details_dataIO.php?ProdID=77010" target="_blank">http://www.antec-inc.com/pro_details_dataIO.php?ProdID=77010</a>

Would this work?

<a href="http://www.compusa.com/products/product_info.asp?product_code=50063961&pfp=SEARCH" target="_blank">http://www.compusa.com/products/product_info.asp?product_code=50063961&pfp=SEARCH</a>

The problem is that they don't make those battery backed 2 megabyte memory cards anymore. It is outdated technology. I've looked in stores for them, but the only thing that comes close is the Flash cards.

From what I have read in the tech forum, a flash card will not work in a Neo. It has to be SRAM.

I just saw where you said they don't make the old SRAM cards. I had found a few places on the net that does. <a href="http://www.synchrotech.com/products/sram.html" target="_blank">Here</a> was one of the places. Sometimes they show up on ebay too.

Just get the original Neo memory card, it's guaranteed to work. Shop around and you can get it for cheap (mine was boxed and complete for $25 shipped on eBay).

Wow, thanks. But 50 bucks? Seems a little high.
$50 is high, but then again it will last a life time. How long the battery will last in a regular Neo card is anybodies guess.
50 bucks could be the cheaper way to go in the long run.
