hey all I currently have a pretty good MVS Cab setup. But I'm seriously thinking of Getting a CD system as well.
Some of the games seem cheaper plus I like the fact that it plays on a TV and is cheaper than AES. I've checked out the available library of games an it looks good to me.
I'll only get the top loading system as the front loader sucks from what I hear.

Tell me what you think; If you have a CD system do you like it; Is it a good purchase?

Yeah its a pretty decent purchase mate

to be honest its not as good as the aes system mainly because of the lack of ram and with the later games frames of animation had to be taken out so the load times would be that little bit quicker

here is a list of good and bad

good:
great games
some games that are not available on aes
cheap games - only a few are quite expensive
remixed soudtracks
ability to listen to the music thru the neo cd

bad:
loading times
loading times
loading times
some of the later aes games are not on the system

but as you can see more good than bad

Ive had mine for 9 years i think now, and while the obvious loading times can be a pain on fighting games, a lot of earlier neo geo games have loading times comparable to PSX....i.e. not too bad.

My favourite feature for me over carts is the studio recorded soundtracks which are the best on any system ive come across, save maybe some Saturn titles.

Go for it, you can get a decent collection cheap & fast.

Well...u could, ive only managed 7 games in 9 years......gotta bew some sort of record lol

Well if youre a student its great because, :

a) its cheaper to get games that the aes.

b) you can write a whole essay and do the reading for next week, have some lunch and maybe write up a draft for a business proposal before round 2
shame

still cool though! i gotta get one, im aes myself, but i will get one one day because its SNK!

The CD system is great, if you are on a budget.

Loading times, or the lack thereof, are a little over rated, IMO.

MVS is the best cheap alternative, and you can get everything published, except for very few titles.

It would be a good addition to your current setup.

Go for it! The NGCD is really nice(I use mine to play the older titles,no load times after boot!).It can also save you some serious cash.In games like Metal Slug 1&2,you get a cool extra concept artwork. Some of the games also feature new and enhanced soundtrack! It's a great investment and a cool conversation piece, too.

I'll probably get one soon.
Sounds like load times are an issue

I found this info is this acurate:

Yeah, the load times can suck, depending on the game. I wouldn't recommend it if you have ADD, especially with the later games. I prefer to pass longer load times with quiet introspection and meditation. :D

Load times on newer games are TERRIBLE! Really, this fact cannot be overstated.

Since you already have an MVS cabinet and (I assume) some MVS carts, I think you should just invest in a supergun and another 1-slot board. Since I got my supergun/MVS setup I don't ever use my Neo CD.

Load times on ps1 are pretty bad. No one complained about that much.

The PS1 load times are nothing compred to newer fighting games on NeoCD. Playing KOF'99 or LB2 is absolutle torture!
