Check out the site statistics at:

<a href="http://coinop.org" target="_blank">http://coinop.org</a>

You will see that Metal Slug 3 has the most hits in the sites history, in fact 10,000 more than the second place game, Galaga.

Hm, very interesting. I think it is better than Galaga anyway. Metal Slug 3 simply owns.

You are a soldier whose mission is to defeat the followers of the evil General Morden. General Morden was supposedly eliminated in earlier games, but as the game progresses it becomes evident that he is still quite alive. The setting is an apocalyptic "war composite" landscape (WWII / Vietnam / Mideast) with colorful, highly detailed backgrounds.

I thought it was HK not Vietnam

The only reason that MS3 has more hits than Galaga is that MS3 was released during the days of the interenet, Galaga has been around for 20 ish years and exists in many forms.

It 0wnz both j00 and most any Neo Geo game.

Back me up Toddy.

No need for rage here folks.

MS3 is one of the best Neo games, period.
Galaga is one of the best games EVER, period.
Think of another game that best epitomizes what a shooter is all about. It's tough man. Galaga is one of those games though that I would LOVE to own as a real coin-op. Even with MAME, it doesn't quite do the original justice.

If we really wanna talk popularity, I can guarantee with absolute certainty that Galaga has probably made more money than any Neo game ever. Think about just how many Galaga machines are out there...

I love the Neo as much as anyone here, but facts are facts.

Well, by that logic then, MS3 is the most popular game of the internet age?

I almost hate to admit it, but I just picked up a Galaga bootleg board on eBay. I fully intend on getting one of the originals, but the boot is new, Jamma, and does not require a special power setup.

I feel dirty, but hey.

Slug 3 is DA GEM.

Can't find a shooter of his genre better than this.

Galaga, Ms Pacman, MS 3.... Umm I'm sorry but If you had to pick the Odd Man Out.... MS3 would lose. I enjoy playing MS3 more than the other 2 BUT it is not more popular.

Briggs, The problem with the Galaga Bootlegs are the colors are off. The Big ships are Green not Blue and it says Galag. Im told if you get no sound try grounding pin 6. I had one and returned it to the distributer. Yeah its Jamma but it just looked like a deffective Galaga. Hopefully yours is different.

It is. It's based on the Gallag boardset but the colors have been fixed and the chipset updated so it reads correctly. Thanks for thinking of me though.

Arcadeshop also sells a cool Galaga upgrade kit that will let you pick regular or rapid fire, store the high score, and show the 7th digit on the score. All for about $45 AND it works on Gallag boards as well as Nebulous Bee.

Mine should be in my hands in about a week....
