which ones do you choose and why?

I usually choose english cause I like to be able to read my manuals and memorize trivial character details (please dont make fun of me).

I only purchase jap carts if I find a good deal, the american one is too expensive or the american cover art is ugly *cough* Fatal Fury *cough*

Price and condition are my first concerns ahead of region. All things being equal though, I would take the English stuff.

Yes of course but I mean what's your preference.

I perfer Jap carts. I'm not a big fan of the borders on the English carts and I like the spines much better. Although I have to agree English carts do look a bit more organized when lined on a shelf, I like the more stylized look of the Jap spines (and the little gameplay shot is cool) :p

Japanese. I think the english carts are ugly (no offense to anyone).

I play mostly fighting games, so reading the in game text is no big deal to me. I go with the JPN carts as they are usually less expensive.

Well then I must say I'd go for the Jap carts. I love the artwork inside of the manuals.

English carts. Although artwork is usually not as tight, I love reading the manuals. Some of the stuff in there is pretty funny. AOF2 is my personal fav. And you gotta love that "engrish". I play SS2 in usa mode just to get genan's "the evil king is me!"

Whatever I can get my hands on.
But I'd rather have a US version first so I can read the manual.

Yeah, that's exactly how I feel. Plus I like the Neo Geo yellow and blue logo on the Jap spines better than the regular Neo Geo logo. Plus I live in Japan!

Jap cart. Cover art (on older games) & snap shot on the spine is way cool.

I hate the big meg count and the 2 stripes on the US cart. Anyway, to each his own. :)

For home carts I choose Japanese. For MVS, I don' care if the game is from Japan, USA, Mexico, Europe, or Antarctica.

Engrish, Engrish, Engrish...... Although I don't own any Engrish carts. Jap carts are much cheaper!

I love to read. I would love to read the manuals, I just can't find any English carts that are cost effective. :D

I'll always stick with originality.

NeoGeo was from SNK.

SNK means Shin Nihon Kikaku.

'Nihon' means 'Japan'.

NeoGeo was born and breed in Japan period.

All English carts as someway 'fake' to me. buttrock

oh_no oh_no oh_no

English carts rule:

- Game logo on spine
- Megs Box (well until recently at least)
- Neo Geo Logo (no kiddie style jp logo)
- clean, puristic design
- English text to read
- higher resale value
- rarity :D

Period.

always japanese - they're cheaper, they look better(imo) and you're less likely to end up with a boot.

No offense, but that view is pretty screwed up, 90% of games are made in Japan so therefore all English games are somehow fake? Please

I just started my collection but it seems silly for me to purposly collect games that have manuals I cannot read when there are english versions readily available. If i can get a better deal on a JP game i will purchase it but what counts for me is the game itself not the case.
