I ordered what was supposed to be a JPN system, but the games load in English and are cencored, and there is a sticker on the bottom of it that says something to the effect of "This product meets the FCC rules for use with cable televesions."

Yes, to be extra sure look at the power adapter. If it says Input 120V, you got a US system.

The power supply is a 100w Sega Genesis adapter

What do you think?

Is there something else I can check?

You could very easily fry your system with the Genesis adapter. The older NG systems had a 5v power requirement as opposed to the later ones that kicked it up to 10v. The Genesis adapter is 10v I think, so it may be okay to use; on the other hand it may be a ticking bomb.

What is the serial number of the system? This may answer a few questions.

Not anything I can think of. A japanese system would not have a FCC sticker. If you want blood, just install a debug bios chip. If you have an older system, it is as simple as pulling out the old Toshiba chip and popping in the new one. But if it is a newer system, you will have to solder. Check here:

Whoops I'm sorry. I got the AC adapters confused. I got 2 systems in today (long story). The Genesis Adapter I mentioned is what came with the definately Japanese system.
The one that I think is US came with a "Mean Well" brand AC adapter. It says Input: 100-120VAC Output: +5VDC

The serial number is 027839.

US systems might be a little harder to find, but they aren't rare. As for one being better than the other, I have my US system plugged up to my TV.
