How many of these were made? These are the only ones I've seen:

Volume 7 - Ryuji Yamazaki (Aquired)
Volume 8 - Leona Heirden
Volume 11 - Iori Yagami

What other characters are available? Im hoping Geese Howard and Ryo Sakazaki had ones.

Where did you get the Geese CD? I am still looking for that one.

The only CD I have is the Mai Shiranui one. It's pretty nice, and it's got a cool cover by the guy who does the art for Lodoss War (the manga version).

Only one I have currently is the Iori one, and I am VERY pleased with the entire CD. I had no idea there is a Geese one.

His name is Natsumoto Masato -- he was the illustrator for Gunbird 2 and the mangaka who wrote/drew The King of Fighters Kyo (on which the PS1 game of the same name was based). With the exception of SNK Character Sounds Collection vol. 5: KOF'97 Characters Drama SPECIAL EDITION, Natsumoto did the cover illustrations for the entire SCSC CD series.

If you're interested in getting the other vols. in this series, drop by the online shop I run, (<a href="http://www.hoteiyalv.com/" target="_blank">Hoteiya Las Vegas</a> (click "item search" and type in "snk"). Our supplier in Japan has the entire series in stock.

The content of CD dictated that each selection had to be partially biased toward characters that had a substantial library of musical themes (original, arranged, and/or vocal) in their history. But popularity also played a part. Next to Nakoruru, Rimururu is about the most popular Samurai Spirits chara with Japanese gamers, and Shermie was one of the most popular KOFers when her CD was released in early '99. Had SNK continued the SCSC CD series, Ryo's popularity might've rated him a vol. of his own, but I think he may have needed at least a few more Original and Arranged Themes first.

Needed more OST and AST tracks?! Ryo Sakazaki has been in EVERY AOF and EVERY KOF, including FFS AND Buriki One. So thats what...*does internet math* 21 Tracks at the time the Shermie one was released(All AOFs OSTs & ASTs, KOF94-99 OSTs & ASTs, Buriki One OST) and 25 tracks altogether(All those plus KOF2k OST & AST, KOF2k1 OST, KOF2k2 OST). THEN add his voice track, making it 22 (27) tracks. Thats a fucking double album for christ's sake!!! And this is not including his FFWA (PSX only) game track.

*foams at the mouth*

Even if he wasnt as popular as the annoying Nakoruru or the busty Shermie, they owe it to him and the SNK fans seeing how he's the first ever KOF champ, both Kyo and Terry have one and he's the main character for the AOF series, a key series that helped SNK in the beginning.

Fuck...I'll make it myself if I have to...

Anyway, Ill check out your store. Thanks.

And here we have a shining example of why my account should probably be locked down during the wee hours of the morning -- posting's just not a good idea when my brain's already been switched off since 11pm.

Point taken. It seems to me that, while SNK did give Ryo more "crossover"/"dream match"/"guest" appearances than perhaps any of their other characters, they really didn't do much (compared to their other characters) to promote him outside the medium of their games. I'll have to root through my collection to double-check, but I don't think he ever appeared in any of the NEO-GEO DJ Station CDs or the KOF Drama CDs. He never got nearly as much attention as Nako and Rimu did, as far as fan-oriented collectibles. I'll have to take a look at my back issues of NEO-GEO FREAK to see how Ryo fared from month to month in the Character Ranking Polls, compared to the other chara in the SCSC CD series. By 1998/9, as you pointed out, he did have enough music to produce his own SCSC CD -- and perhaps he even had the fan-support -- but the fact that SNK didn't give him a CD just seems to be in keeping with the lack of out-of-game appearances he was allowed to make.
