Prehistoric Isle 2 opinions

Hi,

The point is that there are a lot of Pulstar/Blazing Star threads, but as far as I can remember I have never read a Prehistoric Isle 2’s one.

I have received the MVS Kit today (thanks Trieuminator) and I have been gladly surprised with it. As the other above mentioned games it is a Yumekobo’s game, and I think it’s a great shooter too, with great graphics, sound and playability.

It is just too short. I played it with my phantom and there are no credit limits, so I ended it in about 30 minutes (MVS level)

Any other fans/detractors of that game around there. I never played the first Prehistoric Isle, but I think this is more refreshing than Pulstar and Blazing Star.

Ok shooter with lots of well-animated enemies-and shooting dinosaurs is something original,too.

Your opinion is very welcome but please could you be more specific, if you just say it is shit, well it is ok, but I do not understand what you do not like about PI2. I think it could be as shit as Blazing Star loco make_fac (now you can start flaming wink ).

Fran, why is it that you are so eager to express the opinion that a game is total shit? I'm not saying that PI2 is good because I don't know. Maybe I would even agree. For a Neo fan though, you sure seem to hate a lot of games. Why don't you make some threads about games you like sometime?

I too have played Prehistoric Isle 2 in the arcade, and I enjoyed it very much. The rescue hostage element was cute, but the best part had to be the Dinosaurs, they were so well animated and it had a nice 3D ish look to it just like Yumekobo managed to do so in Blazing Star, pity it disappeared from the cabinet soon after. Then I amused myself with Metal Slug 2, and that was another delicious arcade game as well. Don't let the naysayers upset you, Prehistoric Isle 2 is a kick ass game.

I didn't find PI2 that great. It is definitely several notches BELOW the masterpiece of Pulstar, and Blazing Stars.

Actually, I like Last Resort and Viewpoint more. PI2 looks great tho, just abit underwhelming to a shooter fan.

Bobak witnessed my near beating of this game on one credit. I had one life left and the boss had a few more hits.... DAMN IT! hehe, I think it is a really fun game, but it is not my favorite by a long shot on the system.

The graphics range from pretty good, to terrible (some of those dinos look so plastic like). And once you turn on the blood, it is a hell of a lot cooler

Fun addition to any shooter fans collection

Ah yes, I did witness this near-feat!

The game is really fun;

At first you're turned off by the bizarre graphics and presentation...once you get a few levels into the game however, you're used to it. And things actually start looking pretty.

A few spots are literally hard to believe they were done on the neo....

A few of the levels are just ugly...like flying above the forest canopy. They tried too hard there...

Other than that, this game is a great game as an ARCADE game...I think its fitting there was no official Home release; its just not as deep or long-lasting as Pulstar, or even Last Resort.

Still a cool game; definitely buy the MVS for fun. Or a conversion if you end up liking it.
I myself have the Arcade! conversion also...and it really is well done and pretty

I like it.

As others have said, it's not as good as Blazing Star (although I do prefer it over Pulstar, which I personally found just too frustrating to be enjoyable), but it's still a pretty fun game.

Not the best shooter on the system, but I don't think it's the worst I've played either.

I don't know you, and I don't post here that much, but that was the best thing I've ever read here. Thank you.

PI2 imo is pretty good, it's not as good as Blazing Star or Pulstar, and I wouldn't rate it as good as Viewpoint or the Sonic Wings games, but nevertheless it's fun to play.

It's up against stiff competition on the Neo, which is why I think many people don't rate it. I'd rate it just above average overall, it's a lot better than a lot of other shooters out there.

It's an original game, but it suffers BIG TIME from Slow Down........ frown

Nice dodging away from the question. I have been playing games my whole life and all you can do is flame me and prtend you know me. All I've ever seen you do is bash games. Then when someone says anything even remotely patronizing you flame them. I'm one of the most hardcore gamers that people around me know. I routinely play game til i can master them on one credit. And yet you pretend like I'm some new guy because I couldn't afford a Neo til last year. Shut up.

Jesus man. I've been here since last May and all I've seen this Fran asshole do is make fun of every game anyone brings up... And then you say it's a great post because you assume he's just some guy expressing his opinion. He's been nothing but a troll since I've been here. Look at that, he brings up Metal Slug 4. We weren't even talking about that game. I even said that maybe his opinion here would be agreed upon by me... But damn, he does this with every game. I'm asking him to talk about games he likes instead of just bashing ones he doesn't. Is that so bad?

Now I only played board 1 but I think the game is a good shooter with exceptional graphics. I think the opening of the game is pretty funny though.

The game is fun... but is somehow a letdown. The music from what I've heard is quite... "gloomy".

The dinosaur's animations are great but there's that "Saurus trademark" that I dislike. I mean, grainy backgrounds, goofy enemies. The stages in particular look OVERRENDERED (I mean, it looks like a 256 color map with gaussian blur fx applied or those rendered scenes where the border of the bitmap tend to be black)

Well I was just pretending to know if anyone liked the game as I did because I have never heard comets of it before. I did not mean to patronize it, I am not going to get any money from Yumekobo for that.

The game greatly impress me and I think it is very original and a good shooter, all the shooters are spaceships or alien based, and this one, along with the Parodius series is one of the most original I have plaid, at least recently.

Fran uses to have a very firm opinion about games, which is good, unfortunately he is too much bare or plain when expressing his opinion. It is really ok with me if he says that the game is shitty if he thinks that, that was one of the points of my thread. However I would prefer a more specific explanation of what he thinks is bad about the game; if he does not and simply wants to leave it in shitty game, fair enough, it is a point of view that I will not share, no need to get pissed about it.

I wanted to know opinions about PI2 not to make a flame war.

Back to PI2 and my "patronizing", certainly it suffers from slowdown at some point but I just noticed it in one of the hostages rescue missions. About the intro, well it is funny, yes, and quite good, but the end of it whit the quick flashing of the 2 helicopters and the dino face is quite tacky I think.

I always liked the pre-rendered graphics in some way, like Pit-Fighter, Killer Instinct or Shook Troopers 2

Personally, I think the game is above average. The graphics are excellent and the choplifter bit is cute. It's not the best shooter in the world but it's not shit either.
