Well I'm getting an MVS soon, hopefully by April, but in the meantime I figure if anything rare pops up I should jump on it while I have the chance. So I'd like to know which ones of these are really tough to find. I'm looking for these to be US Full Kits.

All Slugs
All KOFs
All AOFs
All SSs
All LBs
All FFs including MOTW and RBs
All WHs
Neo Bomberman (yeah this one has to be japanese)
Super Dodge Ball
Windjammers
Waku Waku 7
Strikers 1945 Plus
Aero Fighters 2 and 3
Bust a Move and BAM Again

The only one I'm sure is tough to get is LB2, and I realize full kits are hard to find anyway, but the full kit is important to me, I like completeness despite going the MVS route. Also does anyone have any sort of Price Guide for full kits, as the one here for MVS is cart only.

Waku Waku 7
Ever seen a 300ft leprechaun win the lottery?

Well, you have a better chance of seeing that before finding a complete WW7 kit.

lb2 is one of the top ones i think.
kof 96 is kinda difficult to find.
i looked forever to find one and when i finally did
it seemed like they started to pop up all over the place.
anyways. can try looking for jp kits too.
sometimes they are easier to find if you have some
one to look for them like <a href="http://www.neo-geo.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=3;t=010177" target="_blank">NEObomberman</a>

Yeah I realize that a lot of time Jpn kits are easier to find, but there's just this stigma I've always had with regard to import games, I just don't like not being able to read something. I know the game is the same, but I'd like to be able to enjoy the flyers and such too.

Ok got it, I'll watch for 300ft leprechauns to win lottos then look for WW7 kits on eBay :p

I'm curious why you're going MVS when you're not at all interested in owning loose carts? I would think that an AES would be more suited for you. Sure, the games tend to be more expensive... but the frustration of finding complete kits like you listed would seem out weighted in my opinion. Plus, you could always do conversions for rediculously priced games like Metal Slug.

Maybe you just like the feel of an arcade cab? I know that's why I went MVS... the price of loose carts just helped in deciding that. :)

So Waku Waku 7 on home cart is easier to find than MVS complete?

Damn.

To be honest dude ANY full MVS kit is kinda hard to come by. They just weren't meant to stick around. You are going to be passing by A LOT of loose carts before you find a kit. After awhile you will prolly get anxious and start buying partial kits then completing them down the road when the MM or flyer pops up on eBay.

With that said, many kits such as the WHs and early Shodowns can be found on a regular basis if you are looking for them and their price really doesn't justify the effort it took to preserve them this long (meaning they can be bought cheap).

Recent titles, from about Slug 3 and forward are still everywhere in complete kit form. The good thing about buying ONLY complete kits is you don't run out of money quite as fast and, of course, the collecting aspect of it.

BTW: SHOCK BOXES own complete kits...free of charge. :D

If BB ever decides to do yet ANOTHER run it would be totally badass if each case had an inside sleeve for the MM, DIPS, flyers, etc.

Even though I've been out of the MVS scene for quite some time now. tickled

LB2 is virtually impossible to find.

You might as well be looking for a Euro Kizuna homecart

Yes I realize that many are tough to find, but hopefully like someone said that should help limit my spending since I know I'm likely to go overboard. And at subcons, the feel of a cab has always meant Neo to me, sure the home system is nice, but to me it's another SNES granted it plays books for games and is 10x better graphically but it's still just a home console.

I completely agree with you on this. NG has always been an arcade thing to me and nothing else. It just wouldn't be the same sitting on a couch with a stick in my lap.

Good luck in your quest for kits. Me, I just can't pass up on $50 arcade carts. Of course, I buy the games I love in kit form if the opportunity comes around. :D

I've contemplated that I may start out with bare carts especially of the games I want right now, then move into kits when I see them selling off my bare cart. Could probobly prevent some frustration.

good luck on those kits they are alot tougher to find and the waku waku 7 kit is much rarer than lb2.especially since you want the us versions you should start by getting some of the more common kits like kof 00,01 and 02 and ms4 i do not know if ms3 is still that common anymore but ms1-x are pretty uncommon.you should also try your local distributor they sometimes have kits that are hard to find.

Does anyone know how to find local distributors? Just ask arcade ops where they get equipment from, or what would they be listed under in the phone book?

try a phone book under video service in repair alot of the repair places for amusment machines know all the distributors in you area like the local distributor in my area in greater southern which really sucks because they do not carry fighting games for nothing.but it is better than spending a arm and a leg on some kits.

The east coast, especially the southern east coast, is a terrible place to be for the Neo. They're just practiacaly non-existent. Hell, I had to drive up to Georgia to get my cab.

Have you located a cab yet by the way? I was eyeballing a six-slot dedicated deluxe cab when I bought mine that is located in Jacksonville from an arcade distributor. It came with KoF'98 w/large marquee, but it was $700. If you need, I could look it up again.

I've looked around though and there isn't much of anything Neo Geo related locally. I haven't even seen a cab here in an arcade in five years. Only one I know of is the one at Gameforce in Regency, but that's privately owned by the store I believe.

don't listen to most of these guys.
A majority of those kits you listed are easy/not too hard to come buy. A few of them, like LB2 and waku 7, will be more difficult to get.

A LB2 kit is sure to go for waaaay more than $200. WW7 is almost as hard to find, but it can be done. wink

The most important rule in collecting kits is being patient. With a little time and a lot of money, you can find every kit on your list.

Lets face it backwards, more or less all the Kits you listed are hard to find except for Metal Slug 3 and 4, Art of Fighting 3 (may be 2 is not very hard to find too), KOF 2K, 2K1 and 2K2 are easy too. MOTW is not hard to find. The rest of kits should be hard.

However do not desperate, in the end it is a question of time and money, basically money. I started collecting MVS kits last spring, I am a very picky person so kits must be new or very near mint (If the kit is rare you should accept some minor scratches on the cart, which are very easily made). Well, so far, in less than a year I have gathered 40 MVS Kits, including some supposed to be rare as Bang Bead, Voltage Fighter Gowkaizer or Super Dodge Ball.

Very good sources for MVS Kits are, FTL, Funeraltryst and Trieuminator by alphabetical order, all three very reliable persons.

Finally and for your info I should let you knoe that a LB2 MVS kit in great shape could be sold for up to 500 USD.

My advice would be to get first those kits with better relation price/fun, I mean get games that you are going to play and leave the just collectable ones for later, unless they look to be a bargain to you.

im wondering...would a uncomplete waku waku 7 or last blade 2 be super rare/expensive
i mean like cart only

cuz IMO ww7 will be a must have when i get my cab in the near future but there is no way i can spend 200 dollars or more

i guess i could live withought last blade 2 as i have last blade 1 and the dreamcast port of lastblade2

but if a bare cart isint all that rare/expensive it would be great

Waku Waku 7 Jpn bare cart will run you between $60-80 and a Last Blade 2 Jpn bare, $40-50

Now if you want English labels, the price guide is accurate... $100-140 for either one (but that doesn't mean you can't have luck). The English labels are still very rare even cart only, but like was said before, with patience, GOOD TIMING, and money, they aren't impossible to get.
Beating the bushes pays off.
