Big KOF players, what do u think about 2K1?

I've just played it for 4/5 hours, and i still cannot get a final opinion... Graphics (backgrounds above all) seems ugliest than any other Kof, sounds (musics? u call that music?) are pityfull...

But gameplay is awesome, some of the new characters are incredible! I'd never thought that Eolith could make such a good Kof...gameplay talking... And the final boss is one of the first long lasting boss in the kof series since 95...

So, what do u think? Am i wrong or what? And what do u think about this strange gameplay (wall boucing enemies, custom combos for Angel...)?

Well, the backgrounds grow on you, but they still stink. The music isn't all that bad, and the voices are great. The new characters are wonderful, and I love the extras they put in this (Goro's son and Rock Howard's little scene when Terry wins a round). The gameplay is pretty damn nice, but I wish the backgrounds weren't so... bad.

But the game is still great!

Well, I think that backgrounds does suck, but not the charas arts!!

I think they're really good coz they somehow differ from the rest of the KOFs!

I like the Korea background but I dont really care for the others. The music...... It kinda grows on ya. I like the "Japan Team" and "Hero Team" music, everyone elses music sucks. As for the gameplay. Its real kool, I like the wire connecting moves. As for the new characters. I only like one, and thats K-4-9. That guy is wicked kool. His SDM looks kind of plain. His arm just flys out and touches the guy and that hurts?! It be better if grabbed his opponent with his huge arm and crush the guys head in his fist. Then blast him in the end or something.

Even though I haven't played or bought KOF2K1, but one thing turns me down is that the original artist is gone....(Shinchiro?)

I love his art works so much (KOF 94-00, Art of Fighting 1-3)

I'm not trying to sound harsh or anything but, it sounds like you haven't played many KoF games...

The backgrounds are great. Sure they are not anywhere near the calibur that 94 and 97's bg's were, but they are still great!

I'm not to sure about the music... Some of it has grown on me, and some hasn't. But I'm still really excited about the new gameplay elements. And above all, I truly believe this game will de-throne KoF98 as the best KoF ever...cause this KoF is smokin'.

Im just curious, why do you guys like the art?
I like some of the drawings at the character screen, but what about those pictures after the match? Did you see Shingo's pic with that bump on his head or Lin with that huge ass head and small body? I totally hate Joes new picture. He looks like a fucking perv, and Vanessa. She looks like a French fucking whore(apologize if your french).

I like the art a lot, even the backgrounds. Sure they're not as great as some of the other games but I still think they're very good. The music is also catchy. Not spectacular, but catchy. I really can't find a whole lot to complain about it, because I'm having a lot of fun playing it.

I feel about the same way. I thought I would love it, since I knew it would be better than 2000, but anything's better than 2000, that didn't clear it up. I like the new characters, Angel and May Lee will take some time to get used to. I'm not sure I like the wire attack system. Have to mess around with it more. Haven't played around with the 3-striker infinites either, though I'm sure I'll hate them (I hate all infinites).

I hate the music and the backgrounds. They're all horrible. I didn't think things could get worse after 2000, but they got worse. Much worse.

About the portraits--some are pretty good, like May Lee, others are horrible, like Clark (but I'm pretty sure the artist was making fun of Clark--the artist probably hates that character). I agree that they're at least different than every other previous KOF, so they deserve some credit for that. Some of the weirder portraits have a lot of personality; I like Yuri's portrait, for instance, and her win picture is even better.

I think the backgrounds are great! Sure America, Mexico and China are a little bland, but Korea, Japan and the last 2 stages are unbelievably good!

The music has grown on me a little bit. Its a far cry from any of the other games. The techno thing is just a little lame, there are some catchy tunes though.

The portraits are inconsistant. I think after the shock that their done by a different artist wheres off they are a lot better. I think I like about half of em, I like em cause their really expressive, like kulas and how shes talking on the phone, its just cool.

The gameplay is amazing, Ive put in about 8 hours so far and I still haven't got the hang of it, the new characters have a ton of depth, the old characters have new costumes and moves, So far this tops 98 for me.

I am one big kof fan and when i played 2k1 it seemed like eolith took away the stragetie of the game by making the combo chainig too easy. But i think the backround has improved and the sound and pics of the characters look awesome and they should stay for a long time. But the most impressive thing that 2k1 showed me was how fun the gameplay is this year, i spent 20$ playing the game and i still want to spend another thousand to play it. The point is kof dosent deal with graphics and fancy backrounds its all about the fun and enjoyment of the game and i hope kof story line lives untill my grandchildren are old lol. i love kof and i dont want it to end

Et oui désolé, à mon goût les zics sont nazes, à part une...ou deux! Mais le reste du jeu est clairement valable. Je voulais juste avoir l'avis d'autres fans de la série, pour voir si j'étais trop drogué par KOF pour ne pa voir de gros défauts qui m'auraient échappé niveau gameplay... apparement tout va bien !!

As i said to the french guy, i just want to be sure that my KOF sickness adiction hasn't prevent me from seeing big troubles in the gameplay, cuz i don't give a dime to graphics. Even if i had prefer good gameplay AND good graphics. For the art, backgrounds and music points of view, i think that everyone has an opinion. Best Kof backgrounds belongs (to me) to kof 96, best musics to kof98 and best art...huh...too hard to choose!

Anyway, thanx to u all KOF fans for your quick answers and your feelings about 2K1. Enjoy KOF 2K1!
