From the look of the screen shot of Double Dragon it seems much different then the original arcade version. I have never played the Neo version and I was wondering if any of you could enlighten me on how good of a game it is in Neo format. Is it worth pay $100+ for?

Kazuya's site ( http://www.neogeoforlife.com ) is a great site to find out about games that you haven't heard about before.

basically, this is a fighting game and is nothing like the original Technos game.

I for one never really liked the game. There are so many better fighters on the Neo out there, and to me, this one is just not worth picking up unless you HAVE to have it.
Don't get me wrong, it's not horrible. Just compard to some of the other fighters on this system it's a little dated and beaten.

It is an OK game. Although, it is highly collectable, you will not miss anything if you let this game pass.

The game is a one-on-one fighter nice and fun to play ( i think 7 out of 10).
It is also highly collectable, especially the 'near impossible to find' english version.
I own the jap one, i paid 120$ and i definitely don't regret it.

its an OK game although very frustrating on high difficulty.you know, all modern games can be beaten on high difficulty since most of us are used to it,but not the case of old games.i juz can't capture the feeling i once had for this game after beating it.now it seems hard and frustrating.its very old too.no flashy combos.

Thanks!!!

I thought Double Dragon was fun. It is FAR from being the best fighter on the Neo Geo, but I'd say it was worth buying. Like I said in my review, you'd be better off playing this game than watching the Double Dragon movie

It's decent. At least they didn't try to digitize the movie characters (which wouldn't have looked nearly as nice), but instead they did some nice hand-drawn artwork.

Rather than the traditional Fatal Fury or KOF layout found in a lot of Neo games, there are 4 strengths of attacks (a bit like Martial Champions there).

The game's character design is a bit better than that of the movie. At least overall DD-NG is far better than the Saturn/PSX Street Fighter the Movie (a game so bad I'll probably get thwacked for even mentioning it )

The most unique feature about DD for the NG is the zoom. It has a Full screen zoom that goes from small characters Full screen (you can see the whole stage) to large as you move in.

the way the character you are fighting bust into the round is pretty unique.

also it had the transformation of Billy and (the other guy who's name escapes me )
into thier, For lack of better word, Awakend form.

the game itself as a figther is so-so. not the best but not the worst. I wish every character had a awaken form in the game and the number of characters you can be is small. I found the end bosses quite cheap as well. And yes it wins my award for the worse intro to any neo fighter

I have it on NGH, NGM and NGCD, But have not played it in awhile.

I played it a few times ages ago. It is not one of the best fighters on the Neo, but the gameplay is pretty cool--your standard SF 2 type of characters.

Hey:

I own this game on Neo CD, and it is another example of why Technos is pretty much the best developer of all time. They took their trademark series, completely changed it, and still made a game that kicks a lot of ass.

Although I'm sure its not so hot in comparison to other MVS and AES fighters, DD on CD is great because the load times are much faster than just about anything else on the system. The game itself isn't very deep, every character has three or four Specials and a couple Supers, all of which are Street Fighter-easy to pull off. Don't take that as saying the game sucks or anything, because it doesn't at all...its just not KOF or Fatal Fury, know what I'm saying? Anyway, if you're thinking about picking it up I highly reccomend it.

No way, Fight Fever wins the award for worst intro imo... and possibly worst one on one fighters full stop Dunno why, I just hated Fight Fevers intro for some strange reason...

I thought the intro to DD was kinda cool. It had actual Full motion video clips from the hokey movie they made.

I have the CD (which can be found for a reasonable price), its a decent fighting game. No real flaws. It has a cool jazz remix of the tradition DD theme.
