i really wonder if the neogeo MVS 2 arcade board is in the works or its cancelled.not very long ago snk announced it.the confirmed titles on MVS2 at that time were garou:motw 2,last blade 3,samurai shodown 6(?),kof 2001 and some others.snk also said that the board would be just as good if not better than the CPS 3 capcom board.AND about 1 year ago i heard rumours that snk plans to make a neo-geo 2 console which is based on the MVS2 board.

I am fairly certain that it was scrapped, though it seems likely that we will see some or all those games on the current MVS.

well, the new hardware was supposed to be called thye neo equator and i THINK it has been cancelled. lets see what SNK can do with the giga chip, which is pretty new and has not really been tapped yet since most of the current releases have been older titles brought back from the dead.

I think there is a certain charm with SNK still working with the MVS units.

Sure, it has its limitations, but it has become a medium not unlike a certain kind of paintbrush. You become accustomed to it's style and are intrigued by new uses.

Sure, an upgrade would be nice, but something would be missing in the move. I feel.

As stated before it has been scrapped.

For the Neo-Geo MVS, celebrating an amazing twelfth year in operation, hopes of an upgrade path have been shelved, as has the remaining video amusement operation within SNK. The ‘GigaChip’ performance enhancement for the existing MVS cartridge has not hindered the system's current ranking, finding strong support in Asia and Europe, though hopes of a major step forward in performance has been slow to be established. Teams like BrezzaSoft and another smaller breakaway independent team will supply titles for the time being, but as said before, how long this stays a route for these developers or a means for Capcom to scoop up some very influential licenses for their own Naomi/CPS architecture is another question.
