Many of you know that I am a NGF supporter. The NGF supporters of this site have been asked by Shawn to denounce NGF in order to find salvation with the other Neo brethren. Joshua is in the process of permanent banishment and I have been on probation for over three months. I was banned for making inappropriate comments about Clint’s condition. I was allowed to come back and have since then toned down my NGF comments and my behavior is not as “over-the-top” as it once was.
When Joshua told me that Shawn would lift my probation status if I denounced NGF, I was torn apart inside. I have done many deals Shawn as well as Dion and I would not isolate myself from either one of them because they are both great assets to this community. Dion has never asked me to denounce Shawn and I am unhappy that Shawn would put me in a position where I have to choose one or the other.
I have done many deals with the people of this board as well as Ray Young over at !Arcade! and others on eBay. I think that the people that I have dealt with are all high caliber people. However, I would not want to take sides in choosing one over another. I wish that all groups could get along as a whole in supporting the Neo Geo. After all we are all here for one cause and that is to support the system which we all cherish.
There are many different sects of the Neo Geo consumer. There are many different ideologies and belief systems on what is the best way to be a true Neo Enthusiast. Some people believe that all conversions are bad because they were not officially made by SNK. Others believe that they are because they are made up of parts produced by SNK and therefore are official just produced in a different form that SNK did not intend or wish to for various reasons.
Now comes the big question that you all have had. Why do I promote NGF and why do I wish them to succeed? In truth, I wish all companies to succeed as long as they have the consumer’s best interest at heart. I believe that Shawn, Dion, Chris, and Ray possess these traits. However, they do not seem to agree on many things and this is a source of conflict amongst the boards. I think of them as the different sects of Christianity. Each sect wishes you to go with them. Be they Mormons, Catholics, Lutherans, or Disciples of Christ they all have their own ideas of what Christianity should be like. I believe the same holds true for the men that I have mentioned when referring to the Neo Enthusiast.
What can we do to turn this negativity around and to make this a true community? I think that it is best that we look at our weaknesses and try to overcome them. Each of these individuals and the Neo consumer offer something unique to the scene and each have their strengths and their weaknesses. None of us are perfect but we do our best to make the most of what we have. I will be the first to admit that have made some royally stupid posts on NG.com but so have many of you. It is important that we look at what we do best instead of what we do worst. I think that the main problem with saints is that they have vices like many of us do. When the Apostle Paul was known as Saul he hunted down Christians and when he was born again by the Holy Spirit he saw what he was doing wrong and corrected his ways. I have faith that these four men who control our community can bring us together as one if they get past their dislike for one another. This is only an ideological world I may be speaking of and I may be clueless, but I honestly believe that the community could be made better if the heads would stop their fighting.
When Dion and Chris stopped posting I saw the site turn on itself. It would seem that the members here need someone to attack and when that valve of aggression is turned off, there is a backwash of hate and despair. That is what is happening to the board right now. I think that the heads of the three boards should come together and make amends and then we may see a unity of the community once and for all.
This may be one small step for the community in the right direction. I know that the first step will be the hardest but if great men like Thomas Edison never tried then there would be no electricity for the Neo Geo to run and no Neo Geo at all. And if everyone said that it could not be done then we would still be in the stone ages. I am here to tell you that it can be done and with your help we will make a great community of which we can be proud of and the Neo Community will be a shining beacon of which all other video game communities will be modeled after. I am proud to be a Neo Enthusiast.
