I got a chance to play Metal Slug 4 at a local arcade tonight, and I will go right out and say it: It is more of the same.

Which should come as no surprise.

Unfortunately, even though it felt the same, and I'm a big fan of the first 3 Metal Slugs (haven't played much of 3 though) MS4 struck me as boring. I quit after dying in the 3rd stage. It's hard to even care about new backgrounds, they might as well not be there.

I didn't find any new weapons, but you can now control a couple new vehicles (unless they were in 3)

Does anyone else feel that the tried and true formula has gotten stale by now?

I think they need some cool aditions... what about a new "rebound" weapon (like the "Bound" shoot of capcom's Three Wonders or one of the special shoots of Pulstar) That will add a new "aiming" factor.
Also a sniper gun or an infiltrator level will be cool... imagine getting inside a base without activate the alarm.
More levels than the one with the man eating plants (where you need some kind of items to advance) or a level wich needs some requirements (find a key in order to open a box and there's a card to open a door...) will be cool
An also do not forget the original Metal Slug tank... it appears fewer times from one game to another

Maybe now, the best we can do is to wait for a metal slug 4 X, or metal slug XX!
lol

So I suppose it's time to wait for Shock Troopers 3?

Some people should realize that too much is too much...

Who wants all these sequels? These endless sagas?

The fans?

Isn't "Fans" short for fanatics?

Well, you really cant make better games than slugs 1,2 and 3 so im always knew that this series was perfect after metal slug . I think that snk made perfect series and games, but you really cant add enough to this formula. I think that gamers must stil be amazed with older slugs. Excepations are too high nowdays ( how to better f355 in dreamcast?, no change )

i played it sunday at a local arcade.
i liked it.
its really the same ol' metal slug.
but i liked it.
The double machine guns, and the motorcicle rocks.
i like trevor, he is cool.
But it was average, nothing much differance.
