I myself decided once i saw how good fatal fury 2 was in the arcades and managed to scrape together enough money to buy it,then had to wait near on another two years before my next purchase of samurai shodown.

how about you lot?

I'm buying one in the near future. Why? ARCADE SATISFACTION. My earliest gaming memories were at the arcade. I was a little kid, man arcade games were challenging back then, especially if you could barely reach most of the machines on your tippy-toes. Man I'd love to be a little kid in an arcade again. <img src="graemlins/drool.gif" border="0" alt="[Drool]" />

I saw a Neo Geo in Switzerland when I was a kid. It was amazing compared to the Mega Drive and the Super Nintendo.

Then I saw Fatal Fury 2 on the arcades. I knew that the Neo Geo was the same hardware for the Home console. I enjoyed really much that game. I even liked it more than Street Fighter II CE.

When that arcade house got rid of that game I was completly sad. But then, They were ordering Fatal Fury Special. When I saw it, My god! "It can't be true" ! Geese ? Tung ? Duck King ? all the previous bosses? I thought I was dreaming. but not. I said I would have to own a Neo Geo. And so I found one 4 years ago. Yeah, at that time the internet wasn't very popular, I wouldn't even know about some sites-stores around. Then I have today My Neo Geo, 42 US games wich includes my favorite SNK Masterpiece : Fatal Fury Special. :)

Well originally I bought my Neo because of games like Sam Sho and (who can resist her?) Mai from the FF/KOF games and that was in 97... but the reason I got back into the neo as of April 2002 was two words man...

SHOCK TROOPERS!

"Phantom-1 and a Shock Troopers cart to boot. I am indeed a happy happy man."

I´ve always been impressed by the NEO, but the prices scared me.

When Real Bout came, I could not stand it any longer.

I bought a neo because

a) bored with boring x86 pc (yawn) chuck endless money into it.. gain very little

b) bored with the gaming scene and industry as a whole.. I'm not going to waste money on games I will play through in a few days, or even weeks..

c) the neo kicks some serious 2d ass, I'm a 2d fighting fan by default.. I stick on any of my AES games and all my flatmates groan.. oh no its not got 3d.. sigh

I recently got into Neo Geo 'cause I was playing Samurai Shodown on my SNES and I said "this is OK, but I remember the arcade being better." So after weighing the options (try the Sega CD version... less colors, bigger sprites, crappier music... AES version... expensive ass hardware and reasonably priced game or MVS... relatively cheap hardware, plays all the same games as AES (different format between the 2 but most games are available both ways) and some cheap ass games... HMMM... which way did I go? MVS of course (I tried it out with emulation first... playing Samurai Shodown on the PC... I shudder with disgust at the thought after having played it for real, on the real hardware, the way it was MEANT to be played!)! With the addition of the 4X BIOS from JMKURTZ, I can even play it like it was AES! Last Blade 2 really pushed me over the edge when I realized there was a better version than the DC version, so I went for it.

What made me choose to get a Neo-Geo? It could be a number of reasons:

1) I got tired of being a rom leech and decided to dump my roms in one mass deletion ceremony (held on December 12th, 2001).

2) After Otakon 2001, I wanted to play KOF 2000 badly, without having to go to an arcade tens of hundreds of miles away from home, and thus, I ended up getting a Neo-Geo home system.

3) Since my 21st birthday was coming up, I decided to stretch the limits of my big birthday benefits to their utmost, and thus, ended up getting over $1100 worth of Neo-Geo goods (this includes a modded home system, two controllers, a memory card, King of Fighters 98 AES, Samurai Shodown II AES, Fatal Fury Special AES, a Phantom-1 converter, and about 25 MVS carts).

I first played a neo game when i rented FF2 for my SNES when it came out back in the day. The following week I remember going to the local arcade and they had KOF 94 up on the huge 60 inch screen. I was IN LOVE! On both sides of the machine was an mvs cab...one side was a dedicated SS, the other had FFS and Sengoku (I believe). I was in heaven. Nothing was better. Finnaly when Last Blade came out in early 98, I could not stand it any longer and broke down and got the sucker. I was a scant 16 years old, and didnt have much money, but I was damn happy with my FFS, KOF97, RBS, and LB. Now at 21, I finnally got an AES Super System back and have a few good games. I have to get my collection back up to where I want it. Nothing more satisfying than a good neo geo collection (one that you actualy play continusously).

I decided to get a Neo because I can't stand going to arcade every day to play KOF2000 at that time.

Beside, all this Asians just keep kicking everyone's asses that play that KOF game.

I was intrigued from day one, the first time I saw a four-slot MVS cab near campus. Samurai Shodown was the first title I paid $250+ for, and it's been love ever since....

I bought my neo-geo 2-3 weeks ago, i wanted one for a while. Since i tried metal slug, blazing star and loads of other good games with MAME. I got tired of fiddling with emulators, they always have small quirks. I really wanted the real thing. I got a super nova and an mvs. I really like to play with real arcade controls. I am just so fascinated when watching the real thing...

I realized with emulators that i always went back to neo-geo games. I once bought some psx games, when i came back home, i played neo games in mame instead of playing the games i just had bought for my psx. I know that if i ever get tired of my neo, i'll get back to it later. No other games have held my interest for so long :)

The games, baby! I'm a huge 2D fighter fan, and the NEO is the ultimate 2D fighting machine. If you're not playing a 2D fighter on a NEO then you're not playing a 2D fighter at all!! :D

Well, i read very positive reviews at 1990 when i got megadrive, but i havent money enough to buy neogeo. I had then snes, psx, saturn, n64, and dreamcast. At December 2001 i read much reviews and stuff at some neogeo sites and i had money enough to buy 4 slot mvs. I wanted to know how good neo games are in real so i took it to home. I played slug 1 and 2, kof 95, viewpoint and neogeo cup 98 and i was amazed. Sure the graphics looked poor after dreamcast at first, but when i played more i accepted the low resolution and noticed some incredible gameplay and animatin in games. I have gamecube too, but i play much more neo geo right now, becouse playability and feel is amazing. I have now 17 mvs games, almot all the best ones, only 2 games what i dont play ever ( double dragon and crossed swords) Im not a fighter fan, but i found that last blade 2 ad samsho 4 are great, but i play most slugs, turfmasters, blazingstar, plstar, magical drop3.

Well, when I was a teenager (kind of retired old soldier talking ! :D ) I didn't play much at arcades as I didn't have much money to spend on games. Then I went to consoles and computers. A friend of mine was then deep in emulation and I felt into it remembering of games I played years later. I first bought an AES with 4 games for very cheap and realized that true arcade feeling was missing (sorry, that is just my opinion...) so I tracked operators around and ended buying a cab first with Jamma boards and then trade my AES for a MVS-2 and Metal Slug and Puzzle Bobble.
Now I own 2 cabs, over 50 carts and Hyper 64 with all 4 fighters. I think I am an addict now !
