Can someone explain to me what exactly is wrong with boots besides the obvious copy right violations. Will a working boot burn out or something?

This is a really poor subject for these forums, especially in light of Playmore's potential monitoring of posts here. You seem to be having judgement issues lately; first considering buying shit from ChrisR, next considering buying a MS boot. Keep going, strike three is just around the corner . . . oh_no oh_no oh_no

WTF kind of reply is this? I'm just wondering. How does me buying a used boot from someone effect Playmore? Or a supergun from NGF? Its not as if I'm "seeking" out these evil items, I'm just looking for deals and that very hard in a price jacking community oh_no

Actually you hit the nail on the head... and good use of "burning" out the MVS. We had a pop and bounce bootleg start a small fire in a one slot... it was a badly wired cart that shorted out... I don't know what the hell happened, the game died... fire... yeah... boots are good for your MVS wink

I have seen Metal Slug MVS carts for $40-$70 USD, why would you need to buy a boot?

Furthermore, who the hell would make a boot of a game that is so cheap on MVS?

imho if anyone wants to fuck around with boots, conversions or emulation for that matter fine by me, but no need to skite about it around here.
The replies will be too predictable, YAWN.

I personally wouldn't want any boots in my collection... only originals. Also, what a few people said is true - Metal Slug is a very cheap MVS cart anyway, so even if you wanted to, there would be no point in buying a boot of that cart.

Some MVS games are hard to come by in original form, never show up for sale. That I can understand buying a boot of.

But be sure to open up that case and make sure it's a nice job in there. If not, just don't even bother with it. You don't need the trouble that those things CAN cause to your MVS board. Any well-designed/well wired/well soldered MVS game SHOULD treat you fine, but plug in one hack job and you're risking it.

Blah, technically buying a boot Metal Slug is the same as buying an used original one.

Playmore isn't selling those anymore.

Ask them for a price list, they send regular updates not only mvs but good list of jamma boards.
Remember that a * indicates a boot (at least they are honest about it, few are boots with them, Ive never had a problem)

Why the hell would you pay MONEY for a game you know is bootleg? Download the rom if you're going to go that route.
